SI scene. This is the Ranmaverse. You don't beat Ranma (unless it's
something totally silly like a prefab bed making competition.) in the
Ranmaverse. /Especially/ not at martial arts. He may be set back,
but
not before dealing you critical damage. This fight wasn't even close,
it was one sided. Also, if Mifa isn't trusted by the tribe, who
taught
her the Chestnut Fist?
While this set off SI signals in me as well, Ranma is frequently
defeated in the comic, usually at the beginning of a story. And I don't
think he dealt any critical damage to Cologne, Happosai or Herb, in
their respective first tangles with him - or to Ryoga, in the first
Shishihokodan story. (Actually, in volume 34 Happosai was shown to still
be much faster than Ranma). Specialists like Sentaro (Tea Ceremony) or
Picolet (eating) may not count, but was not Ryu Kumon a serious threat
as well?
Heck, even Kuno was unbeatable after his watermelon training...;)
Even if you were to remove the whole "Ranma Saotome don't lose" bit,
the win was just /way/ too easy. Presuming Mifa is the main
character, if she's better than Ranma, she faces no challenge, since
Ranma is better than /anybody/.
Um, you *might* be able to state such a thing after volume 38 (perhaps
nobody else in the series would have been able to defeat Saffron) - but
hardly at the time of Shampoo's introduction, I would think.
Respectfully,
Elin Bjurvald
