"Onward, dobbin," Lady Croft said jauntily, pausing only to drape a thin
blanket across her
shattered, useless legs.

... you're going to hell for this. Just thought you should know.

Yes, but I'll be in good company, Mr.
Let's-break-Ryoko-and-Ayeka's-hearts-by-having-Tenchi-marry-Washu-and-Sasami
-while-having-Mihoshi-killed-thinking-Tenchi-hated-her. ^_^

Behind him, someone cleared their throat. He turned, careful to keep
his
weight on the umbrella-
cum-cane. "Hello, Father."

... uh?

Steed's superior is usually referred to as Mother, and while the (looooose
defintion here) film introduced a competitor called Father, this is a
little
confusing -- it's not clear if we're meant to think that Steed thought it
was a
Padre, or *his* father, or what what else.

It's sort-of meant to be less than clear. "Father" was mentioned in some of
the series companion material, too, so I suspect it's meant to be canon. As
I see it, while "Mother" is head of MI-51/2, Father is the liasion to MI-5
proper, with little authority over day-to-day operations.

"John," the Brigadier answered. "I thought I'd find you here, today."
He
turned his gaze to the
stone. "No one loved her more than you."

The man with the umbrella chuckled. "One did, Alistair, one did.

Bollocks, and he knows it.

Who says that it's Emma?

The Brigadier clapped a hand firmly on his shoulder. "Mr. Steed, you're
needed."

Verrry effective, this.

It was the first image that came to me and set off the whole fic.

The Brigadier didn't answer, but instead walked slowly towards the
inmate,
maintaining eye
contact all the while. He crouched down beside the straightjacketed man,
and
softly spoke: "Agent 006-"

"I AM NOT A NUMBER! I AM A FREE MAN!!" the madman shrieked, springing
to
his feet and
bowling over the Brigadier.

Yerk. And I thought what they did to him in the DC miniseries was bad
enough

Hmm. Haven't read that. Not too close to this, is it?

...

... the only problem is that the soliliquy on "Why We Need The League"
cries
desperately out for interruption. Break it up, in other words. Don't feed
it
all at once, give it in bits and pieces. A good separating technique might
be
to give us the perspective of each of the charas as they listen. After
all,
these are rather jaded people, not to be swayed by "God and St. George!"

Hmm. Good advice, I'll see what I can do without compromising the limited
viewpoint.

Anyway, good.

Chris Davies.

Ta, thanks. BTW, work continues on you-know-what. I wish to present you with
a fait-accompli.
