Sumiko awoke, after some prodding, long enough to point Mary
towards a cabinet which turned out to contain an impressive array of
healing potions, ointments, and related magical gimcrackery. Sumiko

Some effective backup would really help. Sumiko needs some work to be
more useful and her queen may not be pleased if Mary teachs her more
about life and reality.
Robyn woke up cold and aching, with a mind-numbing headache and
a sinking realization of what she'd gotten herself into.
Oops. She definitely needs to be more careful about who she attaches
herself to.
In theory, of course, she knew how to use a sword. It wasn't
difficult -- you held on to one end and tried to {jam : jab} the other into
whatever you wanted to die. But she'd always thought there would be a
long way between theory and practice. Presumably the enemy would try to
avoid it, and if he managed to do so, what then? Repeat?
