introductions should be unnecessary.

If you are thinking of the folktale spider, that's Anansi.

I've seen both spellings. I think.
The fact that it's Anansi in my "usual" reference book as well makes me 
suspect at least one English source with Ananzi leading to that choice 
(the "usual" is in Swedish). Very frustrating.
That's one semi-obscure reference down.
