The Times Change

Prologue


Nene sighed from tiredness as she opened the door to her apartment and
entered. Today had been more hectic than usual. First she was a few minutes
late and the chief had yelled at her for 15 minutes. Then she had more and
more and more paperwork. Then she had to take a test to make sure she was
still good at using her firearm now. Then when she had got off work sylia
had called and she had to help deal with seven boomer rampages. Seven! Seven
freaking flaming bloody rampages. She closed and locked the door behind her
and went to take a shower. She was so tired she could barely keep her eyes
open.

Later she emerged from the shower-room dressed in her pajamas and feeling
more alive. She stumbled into the room and accidentally knocked a portrait
she had on the table over. Picking it up she looked at it and gasped. It was
not a portrait. It was THEIR portrait. The portrait was of a cute looking
girl with short dark hair and in another side of the frame a portrait of a
gentle girl with long silver hair and a golden crescent-moon mark.

Nene felt sadness , longing , and grief well up in her. Even after 11,000
years she still felt this way. It had been sooooo long. She remembered when
they first met. Of course she had been a guy back then. She hadn't minded
nene's curse and wanted to be her , then his , friend anyway. That changed
later - into something much more.

They had both been so unsure but it worked out. Their marriage had a great
event. They lived happily together , taught their art , had many children ,
and one day he discovered the truth. He wasn't aging. Something in his curse
prevented him from growing any older. He had to watch as the girl he loved
grew old and died. That was the saddest day of his life and he retreated
into the woods for three days. When he emerged he told his children and his
friends that he was leaving and would not be back.

He left and wandered the world for hundreds of years. Word reached him that
the place he had called home for so long , the place he had been happy , the
place where he had married , had been destroyed by a terrible force that was
so strong it had wiped the nation off of the face of the map.

He had been grief-stricken when he thought all his children and their
children and their children had died. He vowed revenge and took up arms
against this force. It wasn't easy but he recruited others who had suffered
at it's hands and after 300 years of war the force was destroyed. He had
avenged his family but the world had forgotten that their nation had ever
existed.

He had a new goal then. Travel and remind people that his nation had once
existed. Remind them of the past deeds. Remind them of what it stood for. He
did this for the next 7 years until a great evil force descended and locked
the earth into darkness for the next 1000 years. He had fought the forces of
the Dark One but they were too strong to drive out. Then a girl with long
silver hair and a golden crescent-moon mark had arrived and with the aid of
a shining silver crystal and her sailor warriors had fought and won against
the Dark One sealing him from the world forever never to return again.

She had thought he was one of the darkers first because of his curse but
then he convinced her he was not. She had been curious about and he about
her , this cute silver-haired girl from the moon world. He told her his
lifestory leaving nothing out and she cried with him for the pain of loosing
all he held dear. Of watching his wife grow old while he stayed young. Of
her death and his decision to leave before he saw his children die too. She
told him of her life and how she planned to unite all the worlds together.
Of how her moon world had been devastated by the dark one. Of how the other
planets had suffered and how a goddess had come to her and given her the
silver crystal. She used the crystal to create the sailor warriors. Then
they had fought against the dark one , driving it from all worlds until it
was finally only left on earth.

Over time one thing led to another and finally they were wed. He would not
forget his first love and wife. But now he had a chance for happiness with
serenity too. He remembered his joy at finding out that Serenity would not
age because of the energy of the silver Crystal. How they had made her dream
true then and united all the planets under a unified government - Silver
Millennium. Then their daughter was born. They named her serenity II. The
other Sailor Senshi had children too and they became the court of Serenity
Ii.

Then on their daughter's 19th birthday the forces of Beryl and Metallia had
attacked. The senshi had all been killed and Endymion's Guardians were under
the control of beryl. He had almost gotten through to nephrite when a youma
slashed him across the back. He went down and stayed there awhile. When he
awoke he saw his wife using the crystal to banish beryl and the evil ones.
He called out to her not banish the guardians as well and she heard him and
did not.

He crawled over to her and she asked why he would want to spare such evil
men and he told her that they were not evil but under beryls control. He
asked her for the crystal and used it to free them. The guardians were
dismayed at what they had done and tried to kill themselves. He stopped them
and told them he had not saved them just so they could do themselves in.

Serenity then said she could use the crystal to send the souls of those dead
to the future to be reborn again.

He knew the price that would take and said no. He knew a better way.
Combining the ancient magic he knew so well with spell she had described and
using the crystals power he drew upon the very life-force of the moon to
power the spell.

The souls of the senshi and all the moon people were sent forward to be
reborn sometime in the future. He created a portal through time using the
last of the crystals power and then the crystal shattered into 7 rainbow
ones which vanished into timestream. He pointed to the portal and told them
, guardians , serenity , and the cats that this would lead them to the time
when the senshi would be reborn.

They asked him to go with them but he said he couldn't since he had cast the
spell and to stay to keep the vortex stable. He said he did not age anymore.
He said he would meet them in the future.

The guardians and cats went into the portal and bidding a tearful farewell
so did his wife.

The portal collapsed and he was alone on the dying moon. The atmosphere
would soon be gone completely. He got up , which he could do since he had
used some of the crystals energy to heal himself then , and stumbled to a
gate that would lead him to the earth.

For the next few millennia he wondered the earth until 700 years ago he had
that run in with the musk dynasty and got splashed with a ladle full from
the pool of drowned girl. He went into them with all the magic , skills ,
abilities he had and almost got the kettle but the king hated him and said
he would rather see the kettle destroyed than allow him a cure. So the king
, in his madness , destroyed the kettle and now he was locked as a girl for
all the time.

She fell into a depression after that , one that lasted the next fifty
years. Finally she emerged from it and accepted that she would never have a
cure. She left china and the wilderness that she had been in and went to
japan. She found a home there in mountain shrine run by a priest named
Katsuhito Masaki. She stayed there for a few centuries and they told each
all about their lives. They became the best of friends too. Eventually she
felt she must leave and she went wandering throughout the land and met a
young wanderer named kenshin. They traveled together for awhile and then
came the day that kenshin met karou kamiya. She stayed with kenshin and
karou and they had many great wonderful adventures. Then one day she had
woke up and discovered that kenshin and karou were getting old and decided
it was time to leave. She had told kenshin the truth about herself and he
had told her the truth about himself. She left them a note and slipped out
while they were busy.

Nene , for that was the name that kenshin and karou had helped her choose
and what she would forever call herself for all time , and left the kamiya
dojo then to never return.

She spent the next decades wandering and eventually found a friend named
Ichiro Hibiki. They had met when he was about to fall off a cliff in
jusenkyo
and she had prevented that from happening. She had shown him the cursed
pools. She had shown him the pool he had almost fallen into and tossed a
lizard in and out came a pig. He had been grateful and asked to travel with
her awhile until he could return the favor. So they traveled together for a
while. Then they had some wild adventures and finally later went their
separate ways for awhile. She couldn't believe it when they met a year later
and he had gotten lost and fallen into the pool of drowned girl.

Later it was discovered that if ichiro doused himself with cold water and
then hot water he was the same age as he was when he fell in the pool. His
cursed form didn't age. He could stay young forever. Nene finally told
ichiro
the truth about herself and he told her of his life and they became very
good friends. She later introduced him to katsuhito who used his jurai power
to cure ichiro's direction sense. This could be done because the hibiki
direction sense was an inherited glitch in the dna of their mental compass.
Since it wasn't caused by magic he was able to cure ryoga. Ichiro soon
became
katsuhito's apprentice. Nene stayed too and soon katsuhito began seeing one
of the village girls. He would later marry her and have a daughter named
achika. In time he would also have a grandson named tenchi. Nene left a few
years after achika was born and came back a few years later. She went with
achika on a tour of tokyo tower and met an evil being named kain. Nene fell
into the subspace rift with achika and helped her to defeat kane by using
ancient magic and long forgotten techniques. When they left the subspace
rift the result was that achika would live a very longer time than if she
had used her power full blast.

Nene had left and wandered around for a few more decades until the day of
the second kanto quake. She was in tokyo when it hit and pinned under the
rubble of a collapsing building. She had been dug out and brought
unconscious to a hospital. Since she looked so young she was assumed to be
in her teens. When she came they asked her name and she said nene. When they
asked her her last name she said she had none. So they placed her in an
orphanage. She was adopted a few days later by a nice caring and childless
family called romanova. She stayed with them for awhile and then years later
joined the adp. She had felt good doing something to help others. Though it
was hard to resist the temptation to cut loose and show what she could
really do against the boomers. But she didn't think the adp would like her
to take out half the city block using ancient sorcery. So she did what she
could and did it well. Her time with the romanovas had been well spent. The
romanovas were appalled at her lack of knowledge on technology and had
gotten her enrolled in many computer classes and over time she had come to
realize she loved it - computers.

Then she had been recruited by the Knight Sabers and it became harder to
resist the temptation to throw a Dragon Slave at genom tower. But she
decided it would best not to do that.

Shaking her head she dragged herself out of past memories and put the
portrait back on the table. She looked at it and sighed then. She didn't
know what to do anymore.

She touched the portrait of the silver haired girl and said , "I miss you my
serene-chan , but I know we will meet again one day. But I am so tired of
waiting."

She moved her and over and then she also touched the portrait of the dark
haired girl and said , "I miss you so much my first true love. And I know I
will never see you again. I will always hold you dear in my heart my beloved
Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun."

And then she went to her bed.

And the girl , who had once been a man named Zelgadis Greywares , cried
tears of pain , loneliness , and grief in her sleep then.

Outside the city a portal flared open and out walked one woman, four men,
and two cats. Things were going to get interesting now.
