Hello everyone!

I'm tinkering with an idea I have for a fanfic, but I'm not familiar enough
with Japanese manners to pull it off, and thus I need some help...

To wit: What would be the most extremely polite way of introducing oneself
if one is a guest at a Japanese house where one hasn't been before? As in,
what would a politeness-obsessed Ranma have done at the very beginning of
the series?

The Ranma I'm envisioning right now is a person with a _very_ tight reign on
all his emotions -- tight enough that people have trouble relating to _him_,
not the other way around. Think Ayanami. In addition, he's even more anal
about honor than even his mother in the canon -- a Tatewaki that gets it
_right_. Mostly.

The main antagonists are probably going to be the usual suspects:

Ryoga for having the audacity to accuse him of fleeing a fight that he
himself had forfeited;

(And the other way around for revealing his curse the moment he climbed into
Akane's bed)

the Amazon bunch for being pathetically sore losers;

("I fight her, I win, she promises to kill me. So far, so pathetic. And now
you tell me, if I do to her what she promised _me_, I get the whole village
after me? [FX: katana being drawn] Father, attend me.")

the Kuno bunch for proclaiming to be Samurai and then tossing all honor out
by claiming no one else could possibly have _any_ honor

(The upshot being that the Saotome clan, while small and never rich, have
been Samurai for as long as there has been Samurai, and the Kuno family
bought their way into the ranks at the last possible moment, thus having a
"glorious samurai history" that lasted less than a year...)

Comments, criticisms, clue-by-fours and recommended reading are very
welcome; just be sure you know what you're talking about before you hit the
send button, please.
