I believe sprang is the right term. However, I might just be strange.

	Nope.  You'd be right. "Sprang" is the common term for the past
tense of the verb "to spring".  "Sprung" is the term used for something
that has springs (noun) in it, like a mattress, etc.

	Here are two examples of the terms in use:

	"He sprang about like a maddened jackrabbit on amphetamines."

	"The bed was sprung in such a way that no matter how he lay upon
it, something poked him in his back."
