Hello!

Don't ask me about "Only Human" (well, I do mean feel free to ask
me...reverse psych I think *g*), I've had brain freezes before and
I'll eventually get out of it. But, in the meantime, I thought
I'd throw an idea in so as to promote some writer cooperation,
kinda like a party game with that chess-by-mail pace.

It is a sort of writers' round robin, what I propose, but open to
everyone and has a few more rules to contend with. I've been
meaning to begin the first of the series under these guidelines,
but I'll (probably) do that after the holiday season. I'm just
putting this up for anyone who thinks it might be a bit amusing
and entertaining - it's been sitting in my files for a while and I
haven't done anything with it. So, by all means, should you have
the courage ^_^ go ahead and start without me.

Oh, BTW, if this happens to closely resemble anything else of the
sort, let me know, alright? :)

Anime Roundabout
A Continuous Anime Crossover Series
By Roehl Sybing (indef@infinitedeferral.com)

The purpose of this project works much in the same way as a
writers' round robin: to bring fanfic writers together and work on
a common project, all the while drawing amusement from it. It's
not without a few guidelines, of course.

Rules (can be amended):
1) Each chapter in a series must contain at least 2000 words.
2) Each chapter is divided into three distinct sections, each
dealing with a specific title. The beginning and the closing
section must involve a particular anime/manga title. The middle
section must deal with any television series, comic book series,
movie, literature or similar creative work, not including anime or
manga.
3) Each section in a chapter must affect the next section. Ex:
something or someone in the first third of the chapter has a
direct or indirect (but plausible) influence on something or
someone in the second third of the chapter, and so on.
4) With exception regarding the start of the first chapter, the
start of each chapter must pick up where the previous chapter left
off. Ex: the final third of Chapter Seven, is a Ranma 1/2
fanfiction, leading into and providing a continuing plot for the
first third of Chapter Eight, another Ranma 1/2 fanfiction. To
that end, the plot at the end of each chapter should remain
unresolved, so that the next writer may easily write the next
chapter.
5) No series, anime/manga or otherwise, may be used twice in four
consecutive chapters. Ex: if Love Hina is dealt with in Chapters
Four/Five (read as: "at the end of Chapter Four and the beginning
of Chapter Five"), it may not be written on again until Chapters
Nine/Ten.
6) Along the same lines as rule five, no writer may write more
than once in a span of three consecutive chapters. This rule only
applies after Chapter Six, so that one writer may start a large
part of a given series in order to motivate other writers.
7) Concerning mailing lists (FFML, in particular): As a queue for
writers does not exist, should two postings of the same chapter
but by different authors appear, the posting with the earlier
timestamp is the official chapter of the series. Think of it as a
race to continue the series!
8) After Chapter Fifteen, the author of the first chapter of any
Anime Roundabout series may choose to end that series with a
chapter of his/her own. In this case, (a) the final chapter must
return to the anime/manga title that started the series - hence
Roundabout - and (b) the plot in the final chapter must be
resolved. To this end, rule five is suspended.
9) For purposes of clarity, each Anime Roundabout series has its
own distinct title (though labeled as a Anime Roundabout series),
and each chapter in the series shares the series' title.

Example:
Chapter Nine picks up where Chapter Eight left off, where Kagome
is on the trail of a seafaring demon seen only in those times when
fishermen are about, so that those hapless innocents are
victimized. Thanks to whatever it is that Inuyasha and company
are chasing, a piece of the Shikon Jewel is lost at sea, and not
found until the present day. The shard floats across the Pacific
and, after being mistaken for just another fine piece of jewelry,
strange happenings occur that bring the crew of SG-1 (from
Stargate) to investigate what it possible means for them. A melee
between the hapless possessor of the shard and O'Neill et al. wins
the SGC the shard itself - speculated to be an energy source of
enormous power. When tested in accordance with the Stargate back
at base, things go very badly, and wormholes open all over the
world, even though they go largely unnoticed. That is, unnoticed
except by Miyu, who unexpectedly has to contend with newly
unleashed Shinma, some who she had previously sealed and are, now
all the more wiser of the Vampire Princess, looking for a piece of
revenge...

That's all there is to it. Not much else to say, except 'later'!
