My apologies to all and sundry, particularly Andrew Painter.

Ordinarily, my e-mail server spots infected e-mail and gives me a warning
that the incoming mail is infected. In this case, however, it did not have
such a warning and the file presented itself as MIDI file in Base64 format.
I have received several such from FFML and was becoming irate with the
situation. Given that I now know that these pieces of mail are normally the
product of pernicious code, I will refrain from further public complaint.

Again, my apologies over this matter,

Just to provide an official list management response on this:

1) Yes, the original post referred to was no doubt a virus. Don't panic. As long
as you don't actually decode and run the contents, it won't cause you any
trouble.

2) The "From:" address in the post was a forgery. Please do not send any
messages of complaint to the person (Andrew Painter) whose address was listed on
the post; he had nothing to do with it. To figure out where the message actually
came from, you need to look at the SMTP headers.

>From this, we can see that www.terrasite.com (a.k.a. AquariusSystems.com a.k.a.
216.200.66.214; a DNS check reveals all of these to be different addresses for
the same computer) was the mail server used to send the message, and
12.224.188.253 is the actual origin point. According to DNS, the latter address
is an AT&T cable user. So places where it might be useful to direct complaints
would be abuse@terrasite.com and abuse@attbi.com .

3) As none of our other subscribers (with one possible as yet unidentified
exception) had anything to do with this message being on the list either, do not
send complaints of this sort to the FFML -- even if the post in question *was*
made deliberately. As Don's already apologized, I won't belabor this any
further, but in general, if you for whatever reason object to someone's post,
mail your complaint to the sender and/or the list admins at
ffml-admins@anifics.com, *not* the list at large.
