Well, the line by line dissection of both the author's rant and his
story have been thouroughly done, with much greater erudition than I can
provide. I can, however, still provide a few new insights into the
material, such as my conclusion after reading through the entire piece.
The author is either a troll with way too much time on his hands,
who wrote both the rant and the fic to irritate as many people as
possible (in which case he's well succedded), or this is a work of such
supreme self-delusion that I find it diffulcult to believe that the
author doesn't fly into a rage at having to endure the company of such
illiterate peons every time he looks into the mirror.
Perhaps I am stepping close to the line at this point, but I find it
diffulcult to believe that this entire piece was written as anything but
a joke, however ill-intentioned and unfunny as it is to the rest of us.
It's too intentionally _bad_ (and yes, I realize that the author
claimed that 'bad' writing was his goal, which makes me think that this
is troll work, instead of real pseudo-intellectual counter-cultural
babble) to be a serious piece of writing. For one part, there's the
fact that it's not a Sailor Moon fic so much as the crossover from hell.
The series that I recognized were:
Sailor Moon
Saber Marionettes J
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Neon Genesis Evangelion
... and then I completly lost track of what was going on. I'm
guessing that this is a prolouge to... something. I can't really say
what since there certainly wasn't any story written here. Things
happened, but I can't really say what. Aside from the names from Sailor
Moon, the crossing with every other series can only be inferred from one
line of reference to 'the maiden circuit,' 'sword of dios,' 'her Super
Solenoid Engine.' No explanation, or even the least attempt to arrange
events into a semblance of order.
In his rant, the author implied that he's been branded a 'bad
writer' because he is in fact some sort of misunderstood genius. No fic
has yet been written, nor ever will one be, that people will enjoy if
they're forced to wade through writing that makes itself intentionally
obtuse. The prose here is far beyond purple. I actually started to get
a bit creeped out, because the narration hinted at horrendously perverse
imagry that, thankfully, the convulted nature of the writing actually
obscured.
I will quote the author directly one on point-
SMK is not a "good fic" either.
He said it, not me.
If you're still expecting to find an extra-cheap and easily-eatable story > in here, you're just in the wrong place.
Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of writing,
especially fanfiction, be the enjoyment of the readers? It's like anime
itself, it's not art, it's entertainment (and I know I might to touching
off a whole different powder keg, but from my point of view, with very
few exceptions [like Oshii's 'Angel's Egg'] anime is intended to
entertain first; art is a title later bestowed by fans). It's a lot
like cooking. If I purposely make a horrednously bitter, foul tasting
meal, do I get to claim that my guests simply aren't enlightened enough
to understand the genius of my cuisine?
Thank you for your time,

-Never Let Go-
Soldiers live. And wonder why.
Why was there evil in the toaster?
The secret of being a child is never knowing that you will one day die. The secret of being an adult is never forgetting that you once were immortal.
Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them
"Looking back, I realize that I sold my soul for a pack of cigarettes. Of course, I can comfort myself in that she also gave me a lighter."
These things happen.
With alarming regularity.
Sandra: Actually, the RDF command tried to conceal the Zentraedi invasion as well.
Matt: They must have felt mighty stupid when four million-odd ships showed up.
Sandra: They did. Briefly.
