<SNIP>
FYI: L. Ron Hubbard did something similar in "Slaves of Sleep"
BRRRR.... You're a braver man than I, reading LRH. From what I've
heard most of his work is dire.
@@He was a pretty decent SF&F writer. But decided he could make more money
running a con. he was quite a character according to some of the Golden Age writers who knew him.
If you want a really scary story, try "Fear" or "Typewriter in the sky."

Then again, who am I to talk? I put down
two-hundred and fifty dollars plus tax for those Jules de Grandin folios I
showed you a few days back, and critics like S.T. Joshi routinely dismiss
Seabury Quinn as a talentless, no account hack.
@@ Most of the stuff the 'critics' like, isn't much fun to read, IMO.
I LIKE Seabury Quinn.

and there was a robot in "Anton York, Immortal" by Eando Binder who
lived in a dream world (Unfortunately of 12 dimensions, so creations from
that world wouldn't work in ours)
The only Binder I've read was the story 'I, Robot'. I found it to be
all right, but nothing to make me search out more of his/their work. I don't
read much SF anymore, being more interested right now in the Weird Tales
tradition.
@@I _think_ you mean "Adam Link, Robot"
"I, Robot" is Asimov.
A lot of people don't like "Adam Link" but there were at least two Twilight Zone's made based on it and (I think) a B movie. IMO, Earl and Otto's finest work and the 'seed' story for Asimov's "three laws", though i've no proof he ever read it. (nor which came first) But I think it's the better story. But, what do i know. Asimov's good, but too dry in his story telling. He did his best work with the aliens in "The Gods Themselves".

Interesting little vignette. A nice read.
Thanks for the kind words. Was there anything in particular about the story that struck you, or was the tale too slight for that?
@@Nothing in particular. just a nice read. Short stories hard hard to write, harder to C&C. Generally, they work or they don't. And it's much easier to C&C a BAD story than a good one. ^_*

Anyhow, I've prattled enough. Thanks for your time and tolerance.

@@Not at all. Thank you for writing such a nice story. ^_O
