Hi,
Sorry for the delay in my reply. My PC's been giving me grief over the past
few days and it's only just been forced into something resembling a working
condition.
"You didn't want to fall into the pond," Ranma continued, as Akane
reached
toward the surface, lowering herself to one knee. "And so the water
held
you."
That's going to make learning how to swim difficult. And apparently
unnecessary.
Oh, Akane will still be able to swim underwater, but Ranma was using the
term 'swim' to mean 'come to terms with the water', pretty much. I was
originally planning on having the scene take place on a river, but I thought
that might lead to Riverdance jokes so I let it slide. :)
Most of the rest of your email is filled with spelling corrections - believe
it or not, I ran a spelling check through the story and picked up pretty
much all of the errors you pointed out, but that was on my laptop, and then
I posted the version I had on my desktop which still contained all the
errors. Whoops!
Releasing her hold on Ukyo's hair, she pulled her sword free from the
tree
trunk. The dull thud of Ukyo's head falling to the earth below
resounded
through the clearing, followed only by silence. It was done.
I get the impression that Ukyo will get better. It will be interesting to
see how.
Ukyo will indeed be around for a while yet. As a matter of fact, behind
Ranma and Akane, she's probably the third most important character in the
story.
I guess it doesn't pay Ranma to leave anything but ashes behind.
Considering her opposition, even those should be scattered widely.
That's a really nice turn of phrase... I like that!
Thanks for your comments, they are - as always - much appreciated.
Regards,
R. E.
