We're still discussing how different construction methods impact a particular story, so I don't think we've reached that point yet.

This I did not know.  I suppose I've never had the need to cut through the wall in order to mount an electrical box in buildings of that age.

Of course.  In fact, I think traditional Japanese construction uses paper walls.  However, the author specifically said drywall, so I was describing what drywall is for the benefit of a reader who appeared to be confused--and also indicating that I did not think drywall would behave as the author had described.

and two the author is always right so if he wants to use drywall 
instead of plaster it is his decision.

Granted--so long as a particular form of construction has not been established for the Tsukino home in canon.  I do not believe one has, but am not all that familiar with Sailor Moon.

However, given your description of plaster, that might be a better choice for this story, as it appears to more closely match the author's description of what occurs in that scene.
