Finally getting to this:
Cool! ^_^
So, here we go!
Back to good old SS. Should be cool.
I'm trying to make the SS plot a bit more
coherent than the NETTG plot. I know, that's
not hard, but still, only time will tell if
I succeed.
&&&[Cool! A Competent Villain?!]
I hope not. He'd probably win.
That's my opinion about having a competent villain:
They'd win if they were THAT good. As it is, the
villains are as competent as they can get if we
still want the heroines to win.
On the highest floor of the wrecked BBC Television and Radio
station, a strange glowing ooze dripped over the badly damaged
broadcasting equipment.
Is it the Ooze from the 80's horror film of the same name? :)
Nope, just run-of-the-mill ooze, slime & ichor. Unless, of
course, the BBC acquired the film rights. ^_^
The first one stiffened and a cruel grin came to her lips.
Something red glowed on one of her shoulders. "Oh, she's more than
a match for you, and your 'twin' brother. So, are you going to
idiotically go run in front of her so she can blast you or shall _I_
do it now and save us the embarrassment?"
Man: You can run in front of her and get blasted. I won't mind.
Woman: That's not what I meant.
That'd get 'em blasted even quicker. ^_^
The first one stiffened and a cruel grin came to her lips.
Something red glowed on one of her shoulders. "Oh, she's more than
a match for you, and your 'twin' brother. So, are you going to
idiotically go run in front of her so she can blast you or shall _I_
dispose of you now and save us the embarrassment?"
Sounds a little better.
"We'll wait here," Morva said. "For every second she's delayed,
we will have gained just that much more energy. At this rate, we'll
be able to report to the Agency in under twenty minutes."
Hmm. So they are on a time table, eh?
Yup! They'z gots the PLANZ, man!
"We don't know how powerful she is," Neutron said. "She could
be just another dolled-up human following Sailor V around and trying
to imitate her. Then again, she could be one of the more powerful
Sailor Soldiers we've heard so much about."
They've heard about the scouts already?
Sailor V, at least. She did a real number on the previous
administration of the Dark Kingdom. That's something even
the current crew can't ignore. ^_^
"Yeah," Proton added. "Look at the S on that tiara. Do you
think that stands for Saturn? You remember the rumors about _that_
one, don't you?"
Neutron: She's kick ass at designing computer games?
Hmm...
"Yeah," Proton added. "Look at the S on that tiara. Do you
think that stands for Saturn? You remember the rumors about _that_
one, don't you?"
Neutron scratched his head. "She's really great at designing
computer games?"
"No! Saturn. Sailor Saturn! Remember her?"
"Oh! The one with enough power to destroy a planet? If that's
who she is, that's _really_ bad news for us. Still, we're not sure.
What do you think we should do, boss?"
"Certainly, the last thing we need is an unknown factor," the
youma leader said softly. "Proton! Get down there and separate V from
the new girl. Make certain she doesn't get a chance to use whatever
powers she may have. Use everything you feel necessary, then get back
here as quickly as you can."
Useful, perhaps.
There is something to be said about a pair of superheroines
that barge straight in through the front door of an enemy hideout,
especially when that enemy has had several hours to prepare for their
arrival. Some would say they were exceptionally brave and confident.
Others would call them fools. Then again, a couple of others would
whistle at them, then hoot and holler that they were really hot
chicks, completely ignoring the fact that they were armed and ready
to do some serious damage.
True.
There are two things men want, in general:
1: Beautiful women.
2: Heavy firepower.
Combine the two, and...
Well, everyone's different, so I can't be 100% right in saying
that. ^_^;;
"Still, they were all in one line. Don't you think it would
have been easier just to walk around them?"
Oops
Stylin' can play Porky Pig to V's Daffy Duck, can't she? ^_^
Not one that
who instead of 'that'
Oops! Fixed it.
A pair of Englishmen with burning red eyes ran out of the
badly-lit corridor, wielding giant wrenches. Something green,
pulsing, and organic hung off the right sides of their faces. Both
were frothing and wore nametags identifying them as members of the
BBC technical staff.
Ah, good. Newsmen. No one will miss them
Have to get a lot of 'em, though. Extras are only ten points
a'piece! ^_^
"You read my mind!"
"Only a little..."
What little there is of it to read. :)
True. Minako's generally a fairly easy person to figure out.
A bunch of television studio lights turned on, revealing the
metal arms to be attached to a rather imposing, hydraulically-driven
robot that probably had been for one of the BBC's more expensive
sci-fi television ventures.
Like Dr. Who, eh? :)
And the finally get around to renewing the series. It's not like
30+ seasons were enough or anything. No, sir. Gotta get to the
Doctor's 13th regeneration and stuff. ^_-
Sailor S's jaw flipped downward and she started to protest. "No
they weren't--URGHLLE!" The robot's arm closed down a few more
inches. Several in the audience gasped when something in her body
sounded like it broke. "YOW!!!" Then, she recalled the phrasing of
the question, and it made her forget the pain for the moment. "Oh,
that's right, those weren't metals."
Heh. It's always in the little details that one suffers. :)
Especially on gameshows like these.
Sailor Stylin' dashed out from behind the busted 'bot, put
away her sword, and held out her hands, announcing her attack.
"Stylin' Tough n' Puffy Bow-Ribbons!" She hurled glowing pink ribbons
at Proton until he was entangled in a cocoon-like shell.
Well, that was easy.
Tell that to Spider Man. ^_^
Proton looked smugly at V. "Hah! That boomerang's not real
gold, you know!"
Heh. Cheap Iron Pyrite weapon, eh? You would think the Moon Kingdom could
have afforded better.
Hey, they were on a budget! The solar system kept nearly getting
blown up by passer-by monsters that either got destroyed, ate a
few people, or settled down and got adopted by the royalty.
the Crystal Wink Sword. "Your powers are gonna be mine!"
Heh. Just like her 'father'
"Like father, like daughter? Think about it, won't you?" ^_^
"Silly sailor," the electric leprechaun giggled. "Swords are
for hearts!"
Hehehehe. I should have seen that one coming.
It should be a rabbit saying it, but any cereal joke could
work in this context.
The youma made an emphatic gesture at the airborne sword, which
plunged itself at an angle deep through Stylin's unprotected
midsection and made a clean cut all the way through her torso, where
the shining tip of the blade exited where her shoulder met her neck.
My, how grim. Of course we know this didn't harm her for any real length
of time.
Not this time, no. But you'd be surprised what these characters
could live through. ^_^
I've decided that there's a threshold that she can't regenerate
herself from: Say, 35-50% of her body vaporized or rendered
inoperable. Not... without direct "parental" help, anyway.
Despite her tan, the girl turned white with shock. Silently
agape, she stumbled backward, not even having a chance to fall down
before Proton leapt to his feet, brandished a new set of metal forks
and threw one at her. "POSITIVE CHARGE!" The deep, digitized echo of
his voice continued even as he threw the second. "NEGATIVE CHARGE!!!"
My, he is being thorough.
He got lectured to by the evil-overlord-wannabe. Of course he's
going to take an extra step or two. ^_^
"Oh terrific, now what are we supposed to do?!"
"Wait for another rescue?"
"Time for tea?"
"No, how about we try calling for Green Lantern?"
"Oh, he hasn't shown up for ages. Probably dropped his power
ring down a sink or some such nonsense."
-_-;;;
Kyle Rayner had just barely grasped his ring by the tips of
his fingers when a sneeze caused him to drop it once again. It
clattered even further down the drain. "D'OH!"
Heh.
It was either him or Al, or that other guy the Cartoon Network
put in. I picked Kyle. ^_^
Sailor V ran up what she hoped was the last flight of stairs.
Upon reaching the top, she noted to herself that someone had
redecorated the seventh floor of the BBC building with a lot of
granite, dust, and spiderwebs. It looked like one of those fake
Egyptian tombs with a bunch of randomly painted hieroglyphics that
were meant to seem like a prophecy of doom to all who enter, but
really read, "Quiet please, recording in progress, lavatories to
your left, and stairways ahead and back."
Nice imagery. :)
Thanks! I kinda wanted a crypt atmosphere.
The girl giggled to herself and shook her head. She got back
up and ran confidently forward, ignoring the other traps that missed
her on the way, which included swinging rubber chickens, a grey hair
dye bomb, several buckets of water, and a couple of flaming bags of
doggy-doo.
Those traps did seem rather... lame.
Wait for it...
Finally, she hit a tile that felt different from the others.
This one also included side panels that slid away, but had a low
rumbling along with it and included, for no extra pay, a general
sense of doom.
V sidestepped a flurry of obviously poisoned darts, jumped
over a large ballista arrow, and somersaulted forward just in time
to keep from being crushed by a multi-ton slab of rock that, up until
a few moments ago, had been the ceiling.
Now that's better
That punchline's a killer!
*Da-dum-thwissh!*
"Thank you, thank you!"
The red glow appeared once more. V barely had the chance to
jump and snatch her boomerang before the lasers went off. Again,
they seemed aimed at her heart, but due to her movements, it caught
her in the calf instead.
They are putting up a good fight.
I was trying to make V look significantly more skilled than
Stylin', but it looks like I'll have some work to do in the
next chapter.
However, there were a few odd details that they could not
quite figure out. The lack of blood, for example. By all accounts,
she should have been lying in a pool of it by now. Instead, only
a very slight drip of a glowing, light-blue fluid seeped out of her
wounds. Moreover, the light tan color returned to her skin.
I knew it.
It was the strong shock that got her down for the count. She
has a critical weakness vs. electricity/lightning.
Not caring, for once in her life, how she looked or how she
sounded, the second-generation Knight in Shining Armor hacked into
the cyborg with a flurry of powerful slashes. Sparks flew while the
armor gave way. She wielded the large sword as if it weighed nothing.
Neutron is toast. Proton should really have retrieved the head.
He should have, but if he did, the bad guys would have won.
I _could_ eventually kill off Stylin' if I got enough votes for
it in a planned critical story chapter later on, but not quite
yet.
"GWAAAH!" S cried, clutching at her forehad.
forehead
Got it fixed.
S looked around frantically, fighting to recall something--
ANYTHING that could work. She shifted into her plantlike outfit
and attempted to use her acquired powers on V, but it was of no
use. "It doesn't work! It only heals _me_."
Oops.
It's not _too_ much if Stylin' has adaptive mix&matching
combo abilities for the powers she gets, is it?
"I lost two henchmen," Morva whispered while she grasped one
of the spheres and prepared to teleport back to the Dark Agency
headquarters, "but more than enough energy to make up for them. And
next time, I'll be ready for that new girl."
I somehow doubt she can ever be that ready.
Not quite, but I can promise a very good fight. ^_^
Katrina was flanked by about a dozen other men and women that
were dressed almost alike, and also carried large plexiglass riot
shields.
The roar of a helicoptor's engine from the roof informed Morva
as to how the group had arrived. Why they were called Motor Boat
Police and had as many resources as they did were a mystery to the
prospective youma leader.
So they're somewhat more useful than the AD Police in BGC, eh? :)
The AD Police didn't have a silly enough name. And they weren't in
Britain and didn't speak in charming English accents. BMB Police
is much better in that respect. ^_^
Besides, the Sailor V anime snipped called for V and the police
to work closely on some cases, so that's how we're going to handle
it.
Realizing the unique problems of keeping a secret identity in
any kind of detective work, Katrina obtained permission to take the
girls home. She learned their addresses, but in return, she gave
them hers.
"Tomorrow's my day off," Katrina explained. "If you like, you
two could come by and knock me up in the morning."
They would need some Nannichuan for that to work. :)
Probably. ^_^;;;
I expanded on that last bit:
Normally, Sailor V preferred to get away before attracting any
unnecessary public attention, but in this case, both she and S were
too worn out to care.
"Knocking you up in the morning?" Stylin' rubbed her bare
forehead. "Is that the custom here?"
"Quite."
In a weary voice, S idly noted, "Uh, I didn't think that was
possible with two girls."
"Oh yes," Katrina said brightly as she drove. "Girls knock each
other up all the time. Practically a common courtesy, really."
V turned green. "That's more than I needed to know."
S realized that she was going to have to start taking notes.
"So... Where do boys come into the equation?"
"Oh, boys can come along and knock up girls or vice versa at
any old time. Actually, it happens a lot when they start dating."
"I kind of guessed that," V whispered.
"Sometimes," Katrina added, "you can even get a whole group of
girls and boys to knock each other up. That sort of thing is usually
quite lively, and fun with the right people."
With raised eyebrows, S and V looked at each other, slid to
opposite sides of the back seat, then stared back at Katrina.
"Umm," V began.
"Err," S continued that thought.
"Well..."
Neither party knew exactly what the misunderstanding was about,
but it eventually got cleared up. Really, it did.
&&&[End Chapter 3.]
REMINDER: "Knock me up in the morning," is the equivalent of "Come
by and say hello sometime," if stand up comics that I heard eight
years ago are to be believed.
"When in doubt, go with the traditional look. It's always better
to have something timeless than to go after the wrong fad."
True.
Possibly the only piece of good fashion advice you're going
to see in this fanfic. ^_^
(Ending credits, to the music of "Fly me to the 'Shroom," sung by
Mister R.B. Fish, in a cockney accent, while his seal-like silhouette
rotates over a pool of rippling swamp water.)
Sigh. Still Eva influences young minds, corrupting them onto such dark
paths. :)
I'm still traumatized. ^_^
At least it had some good battle sequences, though.
You know what that story needs? It needs more ArbyFish in it.
*WRRRRRRRRRRR!* (Grinding of a blender)
A: Yes! Of course!!!
B: Nah, let 'em get beat this time.
Nah, wouldn't be proper.
Does that mean I don't get ta kill 'em? ^_^
3. Want some WAFF beforehand?
Maybe some lemons scenes with the two of them. That would qualify as WAFF,
yes?
DB, if you want to write a lemon on it, you have my permission
and my blessing to go ahead with it. Who knows? I might actually
read it.
But I'm not touching it with a ten-foot pole. ^_^
Nice work. Good fight with the two of them almost getting killed,
Thank'ya very much! I figured that was the only way the villain(s)
could come off as even semi-competent, and people did vote for
a relatively powerful one with good planning skills.
though
I'd
be wary of letting SS surviving such massive injuried again. It kills some
of the tension if she can survive such things so (realitvely) easily.
Agreed. That's not the sort of thing I can have happen very often.
It worked this time because it was relatively unexpected. The only
price is that I won't be able to tap it again until practically the
end of the series. And who knows when that'll be. (Three years in
the future, at this rate. -_-;;;)
Aside
>from that, was a great read.
Thanks! I'm very glad to hear it!
What with school and stress and a semi-secret project I'm
working on, I'm probably not going to have much come out
for a while. The longer a series is, the harder it gets to
hold everything together, especially when I can't sit down
and write it all at once.
And... I feel I really need to go back and fix GAILR 3.
Things used to be so simple when I was just working on
NETTG. I had my branching plots and just those. But no,
I HAD to pay attention to the ideas filling my head.
But I have the feeling that at least a few are glad that
I did.
Thank you for the commentary! I'll pick out another piece
of yours to review when I feel I have a lot to say about
it, like last time. Until then...
