The table, this time thrown like a Frisbee, hit Kuno square in the
face and sent him back out the door. Be it Ranma's skill, simple
luck, or an unspoken law of the universe, Kasumi, who had been
standing almost perfectly between Kuno and Ranma, wasn't touched. "Oh
my," she said, blinking and still trying to figure out the physics of
it. Was it possible for the table to curve like that?

...The table curved? Not just its flight-path? Okay, that makes
it official, there's a Principle Of Anime Physics at work here: No one
hits Kasumi.

"Why are you doing this?"

Kagato smiled as he examined Kasumi. Despite the fact that she was
chained, spread-eagled, and nude on the slab in front of him, his
thoughts were completely non-sexual, although the fear in her voice did
give him a slight thrill. "Because. Out of all the humans on Earth,
you alone possess a...unique characteristic, one that gives you more
power than all but a certain small group on that planet - and that
group, I shall deal with when they arrive." He guestured to Ayeka,
imprisoned and unconscious nearby. "But by that time, I must have your
power, so that no warrior may so much as scratch me!"

"No. You're mistaken. No one can have that power but me! Please,
don't hurt yourself trying to extract it!"

Kagato smiled deeper. "Well, well. The reports I had of you did not
indicate this amount of selfishness." He lunged forwards with a syringe
to extract her blood...

Washu was, of course, watching this, and would later wonder if Mihoshi's
effects preceeded her arrival. She did not see quite how the needle
slipped from his fingers, but she did see it bounce from wall to wall
without shattering, picking up speed on each bounce until it sliced
through Kasumi's bonds then skidding to a stop, hovering in mid-air
millimeters from her eyes.

"I wasn't being selfish." Kasumi got up and retrieved her clothes
before a stunned Kagato. "I was just stating facts. Now, where's the
escape pod?"

The syringe resumed course after Kasumi exited, bouncing around a bit
more before embedding itself in Ayeka's crystal prison, thus letting out
the sleeping gas therein and letting in the oxygen to thwart Kagato's
plan of enraging his enemies by suffocating Ayeka. Which, in an
alternate reality where Kagato extracted the power from body fluids
Kasumi voluntarily parted with, would have worked.
