most likely conclusion and determined to get in a pre-emptive strike.
She smashed Ranma into the floor with a handy table.

With all due respect, have you ever even read any part of the goddamn manga? 

Yeah, Akane bops Ranma. Everyone under the sun bops Ranma. But fer Christ's 
sake, she ain't that GODDAMN BAD!  She neither has rabies nor is a 
reactionary psychopath, which I'm assuming your version of Akane is suffering 
from one or the other. She's not going to punch Ranma full-force in the face 
for making a goofy comment not even directed at her, and in all honesty she'd 
be more likely to clobber GENMA with the table if another fiancee crawled out 
of the woodwork. If you don't believe go pick up a copy of Viz Volume 8 and 
see who she cracked over the head with a bench when it was revealed that Ukyo 
was a fiancee. 

You know, I usually refrain from making C&C. Partially because I feel that I 
don't have any talent for it and partially because I feel that my biases 
perhaps dilutes the value of my criticism. But every so often, maybe once a 
year or so, I run across something that sets me off. This story lit the fuse 
this time, for it has to be one of the most egregious displays of Akane 
characterization that I've allowed myself to read in a long time. And it 
probably didn't help things any that I read this charming little bit a few 
posts back: 

Ranma finally comes to, doesn't remember what happened to
'her'. Akane and the other Tendo's and Genma are all mad at
Ranma because there are now charges of attempted murder
against Akane and the Tendo's had to put up their dojo as
bail collateral. Ranma protests that he had nothing to do
with it but only receives multiple poundings for the effort
and Nabiki's revenge is to force 'him' to remain a girl and
take frequent photo sessions to pay off the loan now on the
dojo. A couple weeks later Ranma begins to show signs of
sickness and after a checkup by Tofu is proclaimed to be a
mother. This leads to even more attacks by Akane and being
shunned by everyone as disbelief about his claims of
innocense is the common theme. Eventually the memories of
what had happened while in the hospital begin to become
clearer, cue public legal fight with the hospital that turns
Ranma into a social pariah throughout the country. The fic
would probably end up with Ranma immsenly wealthy and in
love with 'her' lawyer (you choose the lawyer's gender and
whether or not Ranma ever turns back to a male again after
the pregnancy issue.)

What utter bullshit...

Look, I ain't claiming I don't have biases, but I try my damnedest to play 
fair with the characters I use in my stories. Sometimes I fail. I regret 
writing TMFI and I regret posting it, especially since I did so in a fit of 
irritation. But at least I TRY. Can you claim the same with this? 

I probably shouldn't even be bothering with this. Nothing good ever comes 
from character arguments, no one's mind is ever changed and bad feeling and 
ill will is usually engendered. But sometimes I see something that strikes me 
as so outrageous I just gotta yell 'ENOUGH!'
