This fic is pretty much concluded. All I have left is tying up a few
loose ends that might confuse the readers on what had happen to certain
subplots. They don't really affect the outcome of this fic, but I figure
it's best to have a nice clean wrap-up.
To anoyone who haven't read this fic, you can find the previous
parts/chapters/updates of it on my website.
http://www.anime.sobhrach.com/~jeffwong/ Heh, you've got a lot of
catching up since this fic is just shy of 2.2megs ;)
I'm sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes. I have yet to edit this.
What I have updated is just the rough draft. Once I'm finished with this
fic, I'll go back and edit it for mistakes.
<new stuff 8/18>
(Ranma turns to face Kodachi. He reaches in to his pocket and produces a
handful of cash.)
Ranma: (Holding forward money)Here.(Thinking)Thank goodness I stopped
that the foreign currency exchange back before I headed back to Japan.
Kodachi: (Takes money)What's this?
Ranma: I owed Kuno ten thousand yen. I borrowed it from him a long time
ago. I'm here to pay him back. Please give it to him.(Thinking)Of course,
I was in my female form and had borrowed it from him so that I had money
to go on a date with Shori, but that's besides the point.
Kodachi: Um, okay.
Ranma: I came here to tell you something.
Kodachi: What is it darling?
Ranma: (Annoyed)First of all, my name is Ranma, not darling.
Kodachi: ...............i-is something the matter?
Ranma: What I'm going to say to you you're not going to like...
Kodachi: ................
Ranma: And even if you're totally against it, it means nothing to me...
Kodachi: ................
Ranma: I love someone else, not you.
Kodachi: W-what?!
Ranma: I don't love you and I have no intention of marrying
you.(Thinking)Frankly, after having gone through situations like this
three times before is getting me sick and tired of doing so. However, I
hafta do it.
Kodachi: Who is this Shori person?! She's seducing you!
Ranma: (Angry)Don't you dare judge her! You don't know who she is!
Kodachi: ................
Ranma: I don't know how you even got the notion that we're a couple
because we're not. I'm here to make that clear once and for all.
Kodachi: But-
Ranma: I'm sorry if I'm coming off as a jerk, but this is for the best.
I've been through so much to get up to where I am now and I'm at a
breaking point. I'm not going to let you complicate my life because of
some one-sided crush.
Kodachi: (Teary eyed)....................
Ranma: I don't care if you don't approve of my loving someone else and
not you. That's tough if you don't but you're gonna hafta accept it. I
don't mind being your friend, but I will walk out of your life if you
continue to think that we're meant for one another.
Kodachi: ...............
Ranma: Now, the choice is your. Do you accept the fact that I love
someone else, not you? As well as the fact that you and I are not a
couple and never were a couple?
(There is a long pause. Kodachi breaks down crying. She runs forward and
grabs Ranma.)
Kodachi: Please, don't leave.
Ranma: (Steeling emotions)You never answered my question.
Kodachi: What do you want me to say, that I approve?! Of course I dont!
Ranma: (Smiles sadly)Goodbye, Kodachi. Say goodbye to your brother for me
as well. Take care.
(Kodachi rushes forward to hug Ranma from behind, to keep him from
leaving. However, before she could, Ranma quickly turns around and holds
his hand out, as if silently telling her to stop right where she was.)
Ranma: (Angrily)Don't come near me! This was your choice. Goodbye.
(Kodachi falls to the ground crying. How was she to react in a situation
like this? She hadn't seen Ranma in so long and had missed him dearly,
only to find him in front of her house one morning and telling her
something that she never wanted to hear, refused to believe, and then
walking out of her life forever.)
Kodachi: W-what have I done wrong?
(Time passes. We are in front of Shori's home where we see Shori sitting
by the window, languidly gazing out, looking down toward the front gate,
waiting for Ranma. She was dressed in her school cloth and had school
soon but she really didn't feel like going.)
Shori: I hope every turns out well for Ranma.
(Shori spots Ranma as he could be seen walking through the front gate,
heading toward the front door. She quickly gets up and heads downstairs
to greet him. She opens the door before he even has the chance to knock.)
Shori: Well, how'd it go?
(Ranma steps forward and embraces Shori tightly, burying his face in to
her shoulder as he began to sob uncontrollably.)
Shori: ...................
(Ranma continues to cry. The emotions he put forth becomes contagious as
Shori finds herself wanting to cry but not knowing why. She didn't say
anything, knowing that it was best to just comfort him while he poured
his heart out.)
Ranma: (Sobbing)It turned out like nothing what I was expecting....
Shori: ..................
Ramna: I-it's over. I'm never going to see my friends again. I-it
hurts....it hurts so badly that I had to cut my ties with everyone I ever
cared about. I had to leave everyone...
Shori: (Tears flowing)....................
Ranma: I really wish it didn't come to this....I wish they would
understand....but they don't....and refuse to....
Shori: (Soothing voice)It's okay. I'm here.(Thinking)Why? Why would they
do this to him? Why did they make him choose? Aren't they happy for us?
Ranma: It hurts. It hurts to have to make such a decision...
Shori: ....................
Ranma: I really don't know if I'll ever be able to get over this. I never
wanted it to end like this...if love is supposed to be the best feeling
in the world, then why does it hurt so much right now?
Shori: ...................
(Ranma breaks his embrace and steps away. He wipes away his tears. He
notices that tears are also flowing from Shori's eyes.)
Ranma: (Sadly)I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't be troubling you.
Shori: No. It's fine. Don't bottle it up. It'll eat you up.
Ranma: I-I'm fine. I just need time to think things through.
Shori: ...................
Ranma: Thanks for giving me a shoulder to cry on...
Shori: W-where are you going?
Ranma: I dunno. I'm just gonna walk around to think things
through.(Kisses Shori)I'll be back later.
Shori: ..................
Ranma: Dontcha have school?
Shori: I won't go if you dont want me to.
Ranma: Dont worry about me. Just go. I'll be all right.
Shori: .................
Ranma: I'm just gonna wander around for most of the day and let things
settle in. I'm still kinda in a state of shock of how everything's turned
out.
Shori: You don't have to go about this alone. We can work through this
together...somehow.
Ranma: Don't worry about it. Just go on to school. I'll meet you in front
of the school. Okay.
Shori: Um, okay. What about you? Don't you have school?
Ranma: Yeah, but I really don't wanna go to school, not in the state I'm
in...
Shori: I guess you have a point.
Ranma: (Kisses Shori)I'll see you after school.
Shori: (Returns kiss)Bye.
(Ranma turns around to leave.)
Shori: Ranma.
Ranma: (Turns back around)Yeah?
Shori: (Produces cell phone)Here, take this.
Ranma: (Taking phone)What for?
Shori: Akemi also has a cell phone. Can you call her cell at noon, when
we're having lunch?
Ranma: Sure. What's Akemi's number?
Shori: It's in the phone's memory. It's just like what I showed you for
calling my dad but it's the second one on the list.
Ranma: Okay.
Shori: I just want to hear you and know that you're okay.
Ranma: I understand.(Puts cell phone away)
Shori: Good.
(Akemi and Reia walk through the front gate and are surprised to see
Ranma and Shori standing there.)
Akemi: Morning, guys.
Reia: Morning.
Ranma: Yo.
Shori: Good morning, Reia. Good morning, Akemi.
Akemi: (Interested)So, how did everything go?
Ranma: ..................
(Behind Ranma, Shori is shaking her and mouthing the words 'No! No! No!'.
Ranma turns around to face her as she suddenly blushes, caught in the
act.)
Ranma: (Smirks)Don't worry about me. I hafta learn to live with it...
Akemi: D-did something happen?
(Ranma turns his gaze toward Reia and Akemi with sad eyes.)
Rama: (Sadly)It didn't quite turn out like I was expecting.
Akemi: What do you mean?
Ranma: I severed my ties completely with everyone. I basically won't be
seeing 'em ever again...
(Akemi and Reia's jaw become agape from the shocking news.)
Akemi: A-are you serious?
Ranma: As much as I wish it didn't turn out like this, that's how it
turned out. I severed all of my ties with everyone I cared for so that I
can be with Shori...(Fighting back tears)n-now, if you'll e-excuse me,
I'd like some time to be by myself.
(Ranma gives everyone a quick goodbye before he heads on his way. The
girls could see him wiping his tears with his forearm as he rounds the
front gate and disappears.)
Akemi: I-I can't believe it turned out like this.
Reia: Neither could I.
Shori: I should not be like this.
Akemi: We should do something.
Reia: Yeah, but what?
Shori: Hm, perhaps we should talk to Akane and the others for ourselves.
We should be able to convince them that I shouldn't come to this and that
this is really hurting Ranma.
Akemi: True. But you've got to wonder how much this is hurting them as
well.
Shori: ..................
Reia: When should we do this? Provided we do that is.
Akemi: Well, we know where they all live so I guess we can all go to each
place individually and talk to them.
Shori: That actually sounds like a good idea.
Akemi: Thanks.
Shori: However, I really think it's best we not do anything.
Akemi: Why?
Shori: I don't think Ranma would appreciate us interfering. He probably
wants to deal with this all on his own.
Akemi: I guess you do have a point. But still....
Reia: (Looks at watch)C'mon, if we're going to walk to school, we should
get going or we're going to be late. We can talk more about this along
the way.
(Times passes. We are in front of Dr. Tofu's clinic where we see a very
sad Ranma enter the scene from the right. He walks up to the front
entrance and knocks. He doesn't bother to hide his sadness, even when Dr.
Tofu answers.)
Dr. Tofu: (Surprised)Ranma. What a surprise?(Notices)Is something the
matter?
Ranma: (Forced smile)I guess. May I come in?
Dr. Tofu: Sure.(Steps aside)
Ranma: Thanks.
(Ranma enters the clinic where he takes a seat.)
Dr. Tofu: Would you like something to drink?
Ranma: No thanks.
(Dr. Tofu sits down in front of Ranma. He notices his posture and how he
is slumping in his seat, his head hanging low as he reast his elbows on
his thighs.)
Ranma: I'm sorry to trouble you. I just needed someone to talk to that
understands where I'm coming from...
Dr. Tofu: It's not a problem. Actually, it's nice to see you again. I've
heard quite a bit about what had happened to you these past couple of
weeks.
Ranma: How much have you heard?
(Dr. Tofu goes about recalling about everything he heard that led up to
Ranma's departure from Japan.)
Dr. Tofu: However, I'm very surprised to see you back now. I thought you
were in Korea or something.
(Ranma explains about the turn of events that led him to China early and
how he met up with Shori, had gone to Joketsuzoku and Jusenkyo, and his
coming back early.)
Dr. Tofu: Does that mean you've been cured?
Ranma: Yes. However, that doesn't seem to matter much to me anymore.
Dr. Tofu: Wasn't that what caused all of this?
Ranma: You've got a point.
Dr. Tofu: So what seems to be so troubling? You're obviously very very
sad.
Ranma: I severed my ties with basically everyone I ever cared for.....and
even some people that I tolerated.
Dr. Tofu: How so?
Ranma: They refuse to accept the fact that I don't love them, that I love
Shori.
Dr. Tofu: They should learn to accept it.
Ranma: But they won't.
Dr. Tofu: Hm, perhaps severing your ties was the best choice.
Ranma: S-so even you agree?
Dr. Tofu: I would say no to anyone else, but considering how complicated
things had gotten because of all of this, perhaps it's for the best.
Ranma: I never wanted it to turn on like this.
Dr. Tofu: Sometimes, it ends up coming out exactly how you wanted it.
Sometimes, the exact opposite. And sometimes, in between. That's the way
love works. You can never tell in advance.
Ranma: ................
Dr. Tofu: Look, I can't really give you any good advice. Your situation
is extremely unique. I don't think anyone can give you good advice for
that matter. It's all up to you on how to resolve everything.
Ranma: Is there a way to resolve it so no one gets hurt?
Dr. Tofu: No. You're way beyond that. No matter what, someone is going to
be coming out of this hurt.
Ranma: .................
Dr. Tofu: You can't make everyone happy. After everyone's reaction, I'm
sure you've come to realize that.
Ranma: .................
Dr. Tofu: Where are you staying now?
Ranma: Shori's place. I stayed in the guest room last night. However, I
think I'm going to move in to the dojo. Her father built a dojo in the
backyard and there's actually a room there where I can stay.
Dr. Tofu: Does that mean you're leaving Nerima?
Ranma: Yeah. And I probably won't be coming back. I may come to visit
from time to time though, but that's about all.
Dr. Tofu: What are you going to be doing about school?
Ranma: I've thought about that. I'm going to drop out.
Dr. Tofu: What? Are you for realy? I don't think you should.
Ranma: I'm just not cut out for it. School's not my thing.
Dr. Tofu: Even if you have Shori and your life is bascially set-
Ranma: That's not it. It has nothing to do with the fact that Shori's
rich and can support me.
Dr. Tofu: .....................
Ranma: I'm just not cut out to be in school. I'll never grow up to be a
business person or anything. That's just not me. My life is martial
arts...and I can actually make a good living teaching as a sensei at that
dojo.
Dr. Tofu: I guess you have a point. However, I think it's better that you
at least finish high school. No, not think, I know that it's better that
you at least finish high school.
Ranma: (Shakes head)No. It's not for me.
Dr. Tofu: .....................
Ranma: (Gets up)Anyway, I'm glad I talked to you. Talking really helped
me out.
Dr. Tofu: I'm glad we talked, even though I don't really know how I
helped you out.
Ranma: Don't worry about. It means a lot knowing that at least someone
thinks my decision in leaving like this is a good choice.
Dr. Tofu: Leaving, yes, but not dropping out of school.
Ranma: I'll take that in to consideration.
Dr. Tofu: You've only got one year left. Just finish that year and then
make your decision. You're a smart guy. Sure, you may not be cut out for
school, but you should still finish high school before deciding to work
for the rest of your life. I'm not your father, but even he would agree
that you should finish high school at the very least.
Ranma: Perhaps you're right. My old man would probably gimme hell about
finishing high school.
Dr. Tofu: Just finish high school, even if it means transferring to
Shori's school and finishing it up there.
Ranma: I-I never thought of it. That actually sounds like a good advice.
Dr. Tofu: Good. Now take that advice in to deep consideration and act on
it.
Ranma: (Smiles)Thanks. I'll check in to it. It should be no problem
transferring there since it's so early in the year. It's not like it's
almost the end of a school year.
Dr. Tofu: Right. Just don't wait too long or it'll be very hard to catch
up.
Ranma: Thanks. I really appreciate your advice.
Dr. Tofu: Not a problem.
Ranma: I'm glad I came and talked to you.(Gets up to leave)I'm going to
talk to Shori and ask her dad about it, about transferring. I'm also
gonna go to the Furinkan High and tell them I'm leaving. I can talk to
Hinako-sensei while I'm there as well, bascially kill two birds with one
stone.
Dr. Tofu: What does your teacher have to do with you going to the school?
Ranma: Oh, nothing to really worry about.
Dr. Tofu: Okay.
Ranma: Well, I'll be going now. Thanks.
Dr. Tofu: You're welcome. You take care.
Ranma: You too.
Dr. Tofu: Don't hesitated to visit whenever you get the chance.
Ranma: Dont worry, I will.
(Ranma heads outside. Once outside, his stomach rumbles.)
Ranma: I better get some food. Let's see how much money I have left.
(Ranma reaches in to his pocket and feels Shori's cell phone. Instead of
taking out the money, he takes out the cell phone and looks at it.)
Ranma: (Looking at watch)It's barely ten now. I can't call for another
two more hours.(Realizing something)Wait! I can call Mr. Hyusa. Maybe he
can help me out with transferring schools...
(Ranma hits a few buttons and dials the number on the phone's memory for
Mr. Hyusa's phone. Meanwhile, at his work office, we see Mr. Hyusa
reading the newspaper. He is surprised when his cell phone rings. He
looks at the screen on his cell phone and notices that it's coming from
Shori's own cell phone.)
Mr. Hyusa: (Answering phone)Yes, honey?
Ranma: Um, this isn't Shori. This is Ranma.
Mr. Hyusa: (Embarrassed)Oh, I'm sorry. I though you were my daughter. How
come you have her cell phone?
Ranma: She wanted me to called Akemi's cell at lunchtime.
Mr. Hyusa: Ah. That explains it. Oh, how did everything go? Provided you
don't mind my asking that is. Okay, I assume?
Ranma: (Pause)Um, the complete opposite. Um, I've severed all my ties
with basically everyone.
Mr. Hyusa: ....................
Ranma: Anyway, I've called to ask if you can help me out with something.
I dunno if you can help me, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.
Mr. Hyusa: Sure. I'll try to help out as much as I can. What can I do for
you?
Ranma: I was thinking of dropping out of my high school and-
Mr. Hyusa: What? Whatever for?(Thinking)Ranma is a smart guy. There's no
way he can do something stupid as to drop out of school. I refuse to
believe it!
Ranma: Um, you didn't lettme finish. I wanna finish up school and
graduate. However, I wanna drop outta my high school and transfer to your
daughter's high school....
Mr. Hyusa: Transfer? You mean to Hyaka High School? Really?
Ranma: That's the name of the school Shori goes to?(Thinks for a
moment)Oh yeah, you're right. I forgot.
Mr. Hyusa: Um, you where my daughter goes to high school? That's kind of
a huge glaring problem if you can't remember something rather big and
obvious as that. She'll be really angry at you if she found that out.
Ranma: .................
Mr. Hyusa: (Smirks)Don't worry. The best way to learn is the hard way. I
once forgot my wife's birthday. Let's just say I'll never forget it
again.
Ranma: .................
Mr. Hyusa: Anyway, what would you like me to do about this?
Ranma: I don't know. I think remembering the school name is entirely my
problem.
Mr. Hyusa: (Sighs)No. Not that. I mean about your transferring.
Ranma: Oh. That. Well, I was wondering is if there is any special
procedure I need to undergo to transfer?
Mr. Hyusa: Not really. I can make a phone call and automatically have you
enrolled there.
Ranma: Y-you can?(Curiously)You make a lotta phone calls, don't you? Who
do you exactly call that can get stuff like this arranged? Are you some
kinda yakuza?
Mr. Hyusa: Did you know Akemi asked me the exact same thing? Did she ask
you to ask me that?
Ranma: Um, no.
Mr. Hyusa: I'm not yakuza or anything of the like. I have a lot of
financial and politcal influence all over Japan and even China.
Ranma: Oh.
Mr. Hyusa: (Smiles)Besides, my company funds half that entire school's
financial situation. It's becaue of my company's financial involvement in
the school that makes that school such a good school to go to.
Ranma: So I guess Furinkan High is a bad school compared to Hyaka High?
Mr. Hyusa: No. My company also funds half that school's financial
situations. Actually, approximately three-thirds. Furinkan High actually
receives significantly more funds from my company than Hyaka High.
Ranma: Really?
Mr. Hyusa: Unfortunately, most of the money is being spent repairing
damages to that school. I have no idea what keeps damaging that school. I
swear, it seems like there's a lone person constantly fighting in the
school that's blowing things up left and right.
Ranma: ....................
Mr. Hyusa: Hey, you go to Furinkan High. You wouldn't happen to be the
person responisible for all that damage?
Ranma: Um.....I dunno. Doubtful. Maybe. I think so. Perhaps. Most likely.
Okay, fine, yes......
Mr. Hyusa: ...................
Ranma: I don't do it intentionally.
Mr. Hyusa: (Shrugs)Looks, don't worry about it. Water under the bridge.
At least knowing now gives me peace of mind. Anyway, back to the subject
of your transferring. I can call Hyaka High and request that you be
enrolled there. The school will not deny my request because they know how
much I help that school out financially. Bascially, you're as good as
enrolled.
Ranma: Wow. Um, t-thanks.
Mr. Hyusa: (Smiles)It's not a problem.(Thinking)It'll also make Shori
much happier to be going to school together with Ranma.
Ranma: I'm just curious, what other schools does your company fund?
Mr. Hyusa: Only ones centered around the Tokyo district. Mizukan High,
St. Hebereke Girls Academy, Kolkhoz High, Furinkan High, and Hyaka High.
Ranma: Your company funds Kolkhoz High?(Thinking)That's Asuza Shiratori
and Mikao Senzenin, the Golden Pair, go to school
Mr. Hyusa: Yes.
Ranma: Anyway you can cut your funds to the ice skating budget? How about
cutting the budget to the Kendo club for Furinkan High? Or budget to
Gymnastics Club for St. Hebereke Girls Academy?
Mr. Hyusa: Um, yes, I can do that for all those schools, but what for?
Ranma: Really?
Mr. Hyusa: Yes, if I really wanted to. But why would I want to do that?
Ranma: (Chuckles)Nevermind. Iwas merely curious.
Mr. Hyusa: Okay.
Ranma: Well, I'm glad I called you. I just wanted to ask about how I go
about transferring but it seems like you can have everything done for me.
Thanks a bunch.
Mr. Hyusa: I'm glad I can help.
Ranma: Well, I guess I'll be going now. I'm sorry I bothered you at work.
Mr. Hyusa: It's not a problem. I don't do much here anyway. I have a lot
of free time.
Ranma: Um, okay.
(Ranma and Mr. Hyusa say their goodbyes and hang up. We then watch as Mr.
Hyusa make a quick phone call. The phone calls last for only a few
minutes before he hangs up, a smile on his face as he returns to reading
his newspaper.)
Mr. Hyusa: (Looking at watch)Hm, about an hour and a half until
lunchtime. Ah, it's close enough. I'll go to lunch early.
(The scene changes back on to Ranma. He has a slight smile on his face.)
Ranma: (Looking at phone)Thanks, Mr. Hyusa. You're a great help.(Pockets
cell phone)Well, since I have a bit of free time, I might as well go to
Furinkan and tell the school that I won't be going there any more.
(We watch as Ranma walks is way to school. He enters through the
courtyard. He pauses to look at the tree where he remembered eating at
with Akane a while back. He shrugs and then goes on ahead and in to the
school. Inside, he heads for the principal's office.)
Ranma: I'm just gonna walk in, tell 'em that I'm no longer a student, and
won't be coming here anymore.
(Ranma knocks on the door to the main office. The principals office would
be located within.)
Voice: Come in.
(Ranma enters. He sees the the secretary. The secretary recognizes Ranma.
She remembers him as the school troublemaker and despised by Pricipal
Kuno.)
Ranma: I'm here to see Principal Kuno. Is he in?
Secretary: Yes. What's the purpose of this visit?
Ranma: Actually, I probably don't even need to talk to him. I'm here to
tell the school that I won't be attending here anymore.
Secretary: What?
Ranma: I'm here to tell the school that I won't be coming here anymore.
Secretary: You're dropping out?
Ranma: No. I'm transferring.
Secretary: I don't think you realize this, but you can't just up and
transfer. There needs to be proper authorization of something like this.
First you need proper authorization from not only your father, also from
the school where you plan on transferring to.
Ranma: So?
Secretary: What school do you intend to transfer to?
Ranma: Hyaka. I'm going to transfer to Hyaka High.
Secretary: Do you have proper permission for that school to go there?
Ranma: (Smirks)You know a guy named Hyusa? Tsuki Hyusa?
Secretary: Yes, I do.
Ranma: He says it's all right.
Secretary: ...................
Ranma: So how do I go about transferring? Is that all there is to it?
Secretary: No. We need written consent from Hyaka High as well as your
father for us to release you.
Ranma: Release me? This ain't no prison.
Secretary: (Thinking)Is our own educational system that bad that our own
students can't use grammar properly?
Ranma: Fine. Whatever. Lettme go call Mr. Hyusa then so you can talk to
him one-on-one.
Secretary: (Nervously)T-t-that won't be necessary! I believe you. You're
free to go.
Ranma: Um, okay. That's all?
Secretary: Yes. Please, don't call him.
Ranma: Um, okay. I won't.
Secretary: (Relieved)Thank you.
Ranma: ..................(Thinking)I really want to know what kind of guy
Mr. Hyusa is and exactly how much political influence and power this guy
has. Perhaps he's as infuencial as Boon is powerful...
Secretary: I'll be sure to have the proper paperwork done for your
transfer.
Ranma: Um, thanks. Well, I guess I'll be going now.(Thinking)Awesome, I
didn't hafta talk to that nutcase, Principal Kuno.
(Ranma leaves the main office. Not even five steps through the corridor,
Ranma dodges as a sissor darted toward his hair, trying to cut his
pigtail. He turns to face his opponent, none other than Principal Kuno.)
Ranma: .................(Thinking)I was hoping I didn't hafta deal with
this crazy guy.
Principal: Yoo been playin' hooky. Dat's no good. Fo dat, you must be
punished-
(Ranma clocks Principal Kuno in the face, sending him flying down the
hallway where he slams in to the lockers at the very end of the hallway.
He falls to the ground unconscious.)
Ranma: Try and cut my hair will ya? Hmph!
(Ranma looks up the nearby stairway. He shrugs.)
Ranma: I might as well talk to the teacher and get things squared away.
I've got an hour left before I can call Shori.
(We watch as Ranma goes up three flights of stairs. He walks down the
hallway and stop in front of his classroom. He peeks in the crack in the
door and checks around the classroom. He notices that Akane and Ukyo are
not in class.)
Ranma: I'm kinda not surprised they'd stay home from school.
(Ranma looks toward the front of the room where he sees Hinako, in her
adult form, teaching the class.)
Ranma: I wonder why she's been in that form for so long? Oh well.(Looks
at watch)Hm, I'll wait until class ends. It ends in fifteen minutes.
(Ranma waits. Before long, fifteen minutes pass and teachers are expected
to switch classrooms to teach their next class. When Hinako emerges from
the classroom, she bumps in to Ranma.)
Hinako: R-R-Ranma!
Ranma: Yo.
Hinako: What are you doing here? I thought you were going to be in Korea.
Ranma: (Thinking)I know this is all new, but to me, this is the fifth
time around and it's getting rather annoying because I'm constantly
repeating myself. Of course, she has no idea.
(Ranma goes about explaining what had happened and how he ended up in
China. He gives Hinako a much more abridged version of the story he told
the ones before him.)
Ranma: Anyway, now that that's explained, I wanna talk to you about
something and get things cleared up.
Hinako: What is it?
Ranma: I found out that you went with the others to China after me
because you wanted to try and get me fall in love with you so Id chase
after you like everyone else.
Hinako: Yes.
Ranma: First off, that's really stupid.
Hinako: ..................
Ranma: Secondly, I'm in love with Shori, not you.
Hinako: That's why I will do everything in my power to get you to love
me.
Ranma: ...................
(Ranma turns around and starts walking off.)
Hinako: (Confused)W-where are you going?
Ranma: Forget it. It's not even worth it.
Hinako: What not worth it?
Ranma: (Turning back around)Trying to convince you. You want me to fall
in love with you so that I'd be like everyone else and chase you?
Hinako: What's so wrong with that?
Ranma: ..................
(Ranma turns around and leaves.)
Ranma: Goodbye. It was nice knowing you. Take care of yourself.
Hinako: Ranma! Where do you think you're going?
Ranma: (Defiant)Why does it matter to you?
Hinako: Yes it does matter. You're one of my students!
Ranma: (Smirks)Not anymore.
Hinako: What?
Ranma: I'm no longer a student of this school. That means you have no
obligation toward me anymore and I have no obligation toward you.
Hinako; ..................
Ranma: Anyway, goodbye. Take care.
(Ranma walks over to the window. It just happens to be the exact same
window Ranma and Kuno first jumped out of, the two of them falling down
three stories and in to the school swimming pool. He balances himself on
the window ledge and looks down at the pool below.
Ranma: Heh. That was so long ago....
(Ranma leaps through the air, his flight taking him through the air where
he lands on the top of the fence located on the other side of the pool.
Hinako rushes up to the window but doesn't give persuit. Ranma turns
around to see Hinako looking out the window and down at him.)
Ranma: (Bows respectfully)Take care of yourself, Hinako-sensei.
(Ranma turns around and hops off the fence, landing safely on the ground
where he then walks off.)
Ranma: (To self)Sorry, Hinako-sensei, you're a cool teacher, but you're
also crazy for expecting me to be like all those students and to love you
like they do. You know I love Shori but that doesn't seem to matter to
you so I'm not gonna even bother explaining it.
(Ranma walks around for a short while for a short while, waiting for it
to be noon. When it becomes noon, he eagerly dials Akemi's cell phone
number.)
Akemi: (Knowing it would be Ranma)Hey Ranma.
Ranma: (Recognizing voice)Hey, Akemi.
Akemi: Um, how's it going?
Ranma: Fine.
Akemi: Are you feeling better? Um, seemed kind of down when you left.
Ranma: Yeah. I guess I did.
Akemi: Here's Shori.
Ranma: Thanks.
Shori: (Coming on the line)Hey, Ranma.
Ranma: (Smiles)Hey, Shori.
Shori: I'm glad you called.
Ranma: I've got some good news.
Shori: Good news? What kind of good news?
Ranma: I'm going to transfer schools.
Shori: What do you mean?
Ranma: I'm going to be transferring to your school.
Shori: (Shocked)Y-you are?
Ranma: I felt a bit bad going about this without talking to first, but I
wanted it to bea surprised.
Shori: (Happily)You're going to be coming to school here?! That's great!!
Ranma: (Smiles)I'm glad you're happy.
Shori: What made you decide this all of a sudden?
Ranma: Dr. Tofu.
Shori: Dr. Tofu?
Ranma: He owns a clinic. After I left the house, I went to Dr. Tofu's and
talked to him. I wanted to withdraw from high school and he-
Shori: Drop out of school!
Ranma: He had the same reaction.
Shori: You can't drop out of school.
Ranma: Don't worry. I won't. At first, I figured it'd be good but after a
bit of talking, I realized that it's best that I at least finish high
school. So, I've decided to transfer schools, mainly, to your school.
Shori: Well, I'm very glad you've decided to transfer to my school. I'm
even more glad that you're going to stay in school.
Ranma: ..................
Shori: How'd you go about transferring?
Ranma: Um, I asked for your father's help.
Shori: You did? What did he do?
Ranma: He said all he had to do was make a phone call.
Shori: I guess I shouldn't be surpised. It seems like all my father needs
is a phone call and he can make things better.
Ranma: Not quite everything...if that was the case, then I would've asked
him to get ridda that ache I still feel from what's happened between me
and everyone and my having to severe my ties with them...
Shori: .................
Ranma: Don't worry about it. It'll probably take me a while to get over
it, but I'm sure given the time, it won't really bother me that much
anymore.
Shori: .................
Ranma: Let's not talk about that anyway.
Shori: O-okay.
Ranma: So, how's your day going so far?
(Ranma and Shori talk on the phone for a good fifteen minutes, talking
about nothing in particular before Shori must go, so she would at least
have some time to eat lunch.)
Ranma: All right. I'll let you go. I need to eat some food as well.
Shori: Okay.
Rama: Um, are you doing anything tonight?
Shori: No. Not at all.
Ranma: Um, I know this is a bit short on notice, but w-would you like to
go out?
Shori: (Blushing)You mean on a date?
Ranma: (Blushing)Well, y-yeah.
Shori: (Happily)Sure, I'd love to.
Ranma: Really? That's great.
Shori: Are you still going to be waiting in front of the school when we
get out?
Ranma: Yeah.
Shori: Okay, I'm looking forward to it.
Ranma: Okay. Bye.
Shori: Bye. I love you.
Ranma: I love you too. Bye.
(Ranma hangs up the phone. He stares at it for a moment.)
Ranma: (To self)What's wrong with you, Ranma? You and Shori love each
other and both of us know it. So why the heck do I get nervous still like
I'm asking her out for the very first time all over again?
(Ranma shakes his head as he puts the phone away. He stomach rumbles.)
Ranma: (Rubbing stomach)I better get some food.
(Time passes. We are with Shori and Akemi and Reia as they sigh in relief
as the bell rings, signaling the end of the school day and the beginning
of the weekend.)
Shori: I think I did okay on the test.
Reia: Same here.
Akemi: I don't think I did well.
Reia: (Smirks)It helps to actually do your own homework instead of just
copying it from me or Shori.
Akemi: (Shrugs)I'll learn soon enough.
(Shori and the two girls looks over toward the window where they see a
group of girls hanging out.)
Girl1: That's the cute guy that came by and beat those bullies up.
Girl2: He's so cool. I wanna meet him.
Akemi: What the heck are they all goo goo about?
(Akemi walks over to the window and looks out. She immediately recognizes
the cute boy that those girls were referring to. It was Ranma. He was
waiting by the tree. Reia and Shori walk over. They recognize Ranma right
away.)
Reia: That's so cool, Shori, having someone waiting for you after school.
Shori: (Blushing)..................
Akemi: (Grinning)I've gotta have some fun.
(Akemi takes out her cell phone and dials for Shori's cell phone number.)
Akemi: (Thinking)C'mon, Ranma, pick up the phone.
(Down in the courtyard, Ranam hears Shori's cell phone ring in his
pocket. He takes it out and looks at it.)
Ranma: This is Shori's cell. Should I answer it?
Akane: (Phone held to ear)C'mon, Ranma, pick it up.
Ranma: It could be important. I'll see her in a bit so I'll just relay
the message when I get the chance.(Answers the phone)Hello?
Akemi: (Grinning)Hey, Ranma.
Shori: (To Akemi)What are you doing?
Akemi: (Cupping phone)Just lettme have a lil bit of fun.(To phone)What's
up?
Ranma: (Recognizing Akemi's voice)Hey, Akemi. Nothing much. How 'bout
you?
Akemi: Where are you?
Ranma: I'm waiting down in the courtyard.
Akemi: (Grinning)Really?
Ranma: Yeah.
Akemi: Oh, there you are. I see you.
Ranma: Huh? Where are you?
Akemi: Third story. Fifth window in from the left.
(The girls standing by the window sees Akemi holding a cell phone waving
toward the cute guy in the courtyard.)
Ranma: (Spots Akemi waving)Oh, I see you.(Waves back)
Girl1: Hey, she knows him.
Girl2: He's waving back at her.
(Akemi supresses a laugh as she opens the open and calls out. He is a
good distance away so they are forced to yell.)
Akemi: (Hanging up phone)Hey!
Ranma: (Hanging up phone)Yo!
Akemi: Did you wait long?
Ranma: No! I just got here a few minutes ago!
Akemi: Cool! Just wait for a minute! I'll be down!
Ranma: Um, okay!
(Akemi closes the window and disappears.)
Ranma: (Thinking)What about Reia and Shori? Are they coming down also?
(Ranma spots a group a girls hanging by the window as well, none of them
that he recognizes.)
Ranma: (Smirks)Oh, I get it. Akemi was just showing off to those girls or
something.
(Ranma only waits a couple of minutes before he sees Shori and the others
emerging from the school. They all approach him. They greet each other
and head toward Shori's house.)
Ranma: (Smirking)I don't think it was good that you did that.
Akemi: D-did what?
Shori: (To Akemi)I think he means that little scene you played with the
cell phone and such.
Akemi: I'm sorry. I was just having a bit of fun.
Ranma: (Shrugs)Well, no harm done I guess.
Shori: Did you eat yet?
Ranma: I had a big lunch if that's what you mean, but that was a few
hours ago.
Shori: Do you want to go get something to eat before heading back?
Ranma: Nah. Actually, neither should you.
Shori: Oh yeah. Save my appetite for tonight, right?
Ranma: Yeah.
Akemi: Big date, huh?
Ranma: I guess you can call it that.
Shori: (Blushing).................
Reia: So, Ranma, what have you plan on doing? Do you have a place to
stay?
Shori: You don't have to worry. You're welcome to stay for as long as you
like. However, knowing my dad, he'll probably have to stay in the dojo. I
mean, he is my dad, afterall.
Ranma: Thanks. Um, I've been thinking....I think I should get a job.
Shori: A job? What kind of job?
Ranma: I don't know. Your dad seems still interested in taking me in as a
sensei for the dojo. However, that won't be put in to effect until he
retires...
Shori: And we don't really know how long that might be.
Ranma: So I figure in the meanwhile, I'd work.
Shori: Doing what?
Ranma: I don't know. I haven't exactly started looking around. I don't
have work experience so I don't really know what I'm qualitified for.
Akemi: How about becoming a sensei?
Ranma: That's what I plan, but Shori's dad hasn't retired yet...
Akemi: How about for another school?
Ranma: .................
Akemi: I've seen you fight. You know your stuff. You're definitely
skilled enough to teach.
Ranma: Um, thanks.
Shori: I can ask my dad to hook you up with a job.
Ranma: That's okay. I'd like to actually try and do this on my own. I
don't wanna constantly ask him for help, not if I don't hafta.
Shori: Oh.
Reia: When do you plan on looking for a job?
Ranma: Probably tomorrow or the day after.
Akemi: Not right away?
Ranma: No. I'd like to look for Ryoga today.
Shori: Today?
Ranma: Yeah. I figure I'd walk you guys home and then be on my way to
Ryoga's.
Shori: Ryoga? For what?
Ranma: I have something from China I'd like to give him. I figure I'd
drop by his house, just in case he's home. I highly doubt it, but it
couldn't hurt. I'd also like to check up on Kisen and Sayuri, to see how
they're doing.
Shori: .................
Ranma: Don't worry, you've got nothing to worry about. I just wanna check
up on them to see how they're doing. That's all. They left me their
contact information and actually don't like that far from here.
Shori: Where do they live?
Ranma: Around fifty miles west of here. It wouldn't take me long to get
over there, say hi and check up on them, and then come back. I'd be back
by tonight, plenty of time for our date.
Shori: When would the date be?
Ranma: Eight, not unless you want it later?
Akemi: (Smirking)I betcha Shori wouldn't mind it starting now.
Shori: (Blushing).....................
Ranma: Eight or perhaps eight thirty'll be better. It'll give me plenty
of time to do my stuff and then be back.
Shori: Must you go now?
Ranma: It's better sooner than later. Sayuri'll only be around for a
week, not even. I figure it'd be best to just get in touch with her and
Kisen at the same time. That's all.
Reia: Actually, that'd be a good idea. While you're away, we can go
shopping for a nice dress for Shori.
Shori: I've got plenty of dresses.
Akemi: Hey, it'd be fun.
Shori: I guess.
Ranma: All right.
(Ranma and the three girls head toward Shori's house. Once there, Shori
is surprised when Ranma says goodbye.)
Ranma: I'll go escort Akemi and Reia home safely.
Shori: I can get them a ride home. Usually, they come over, we hang
around for a bit, and then I have either my dad or the butler take them
home.
Akemi: That's usually the case.
Ranma: Don't worry, I don't mind.
Shori: All right. I'll come with you. Just lettme drop my backpack off in
my room and I'll be right down.
Ranma: There's no need.
Shori: No need?
Ranma: I figured I'd drop Reia and Akemi off and head off for Ryoga's
place straight from there.
Shori: Oh.
Ranma: It's no problem for me.
Shori: Um, okay.
Reia: Don't worry about us. Besides, you'll see us shortly.
Akemi: Yeah. I wanna take a shower before we go out shopping.
Reia: Same here.
Shori: Okay.
Ranma: (Smiles)Don't worry, I won't do nothing funny with 'em.
Akemi: Why not?
Ranma: What?!
Akemi: (Laughs)I'm just joking with you, Ranma. Lighten up.
Ranma: ..................
Reia: Well, let's get going.
Akemi: We'll call you in about an hour, okay?
Shori: Okay.
(They all say their goodbyes. Shori heads in to her house to take a
shower herself while Ranma and Akemi and Reia head off. They walk for a
block in silence before Akemi speaks up.)
Akemi: (Smirks)Okay, what are you scheming?
Reia: Yeah.
Ranma: You knew?
Akemi: Uh huh. You went through extra effort to escort us home, to walk
us home, especially when you know that we usually end up getting a ride.
Ranma: I guess you've got me. I wanted to ask you two girls a question.
Actually, I'd like both of your help.
Reia: (Interested)What is it?
Ranma: Um........I......um.......
Akemi: C'mon, Ranma. What is it?
Ranma: I wanna get get an engagment ring for Shori.
Akemi: What?!
Reia: Really?!
Ranma: Yeah. I wanna ask Shori to become my finacee, particularly
tonight, when she and I are on our date.
Akemi: ..................
Reia: ..................
Ranma: W-will you help me?
Akemi: Are you kidding?! Of course we will!
Reia: We'd be happy to!
Ranma: (Smiles)Thank you.
Reia: I even know exactly which ring Shori would want.
Akemi: (Eyes wide)Oh yeah!! I remember seeing her looking at that!!
Reia: Yep. That's the one.
Ranma: What right is this?
Akemi: It's this ring we remember seeing Shori checking out. I mean, it's
a girl thing, that we sometimes stop at jewelry stores and check out
rings and imagine what kinda engagment right we'd be getting from our
fiancee in the future. Anyway, we we do that from time to time, we both
remember Shori paying a bit more attention to one ring than any other
ring. This was well before she met you.
Reia: Don't worry, we'll show you.
(Rather than escorting the girls home to their house, Ranma and the two
girls head toward town. Once there, they both bring Ranma to a very
classy and expensive looking jewelry store. The three of them enter. The
two girls nearly drag Ranma to the show case that has the engagment ring
on display.)
Ranma: (Points)That's the ring?
Akemi: Yeah. That's it.
(Ranma regards the ring. It's a small golden ring with a diamond that
wasn't even all that big. He looks around at some random rings and
realize that the ring he was pointed to was probably the smallest and
least expensive ring in the entire store.)
Ranma: Are you sure that's the ring Shori likes?
Reia: Positive.
Ranma: (Points)That right?
Reia: Yes.
Ranma: That one. Right there. The little one.
Reia: Yes.
Ranma: But it's so small.(Notices price)And the price....it's so small. I
dunno anything about rings, but I know that's very inexpensive for a
ring.
Reia: I know. We figured Shori was insane for having her eye at that
ring, but it seems to have some kinda sentimental value to her.
Akemi: Besides, Shori isn't some kinda rich stuck up princess. She isn't
even in to extravagant stuff.
Ranma: Sentimental value?
Reia: Yes. We asked that day and found out that that ring reminds her of
the ring her mom used to have.
Ranma: Oh?
Reia: Shori's dad wasn't always rich. He was actually really broke until
a few years after he married Shori's mom. However, even though he was
broke, he still managed to come up with enough money to buy that
particular ring. It was later found that he shoveled snow over the course
of an entire winter to come up with the money to afford the ring. When
Shori's mom found out, she couldn't help but love the ring for what it
represented. Even though it was cheap, Shori's dad worked very very hard
for it and it's the hard work that mattered to her. Shori's mom and dad
actually have a kind of love that fiary tales are based on. Anyway, the
significance of that ring is that Shori believes that that ring
represents such a love.
Ranma: Wow.
Akemi: Kinda cheesy, dontcha think?
Ranma: No.
Akemi: (Shrugs)I guess I have trouble seeing it like Shori. I wouldn't
mind having the most expensive and largest engagment ring. Afterall, if
you shovel snow or something to come up with the money to afford it, that
means you worked even more harder to afford such a ring.
Reia: Akemi's logic is kind of deranged, but it still has some kind of
truth to it.
Ranma: ................
Reia: (Points)However, this ring is what Shori wants. It's not so much
the hard work that it took to afford it but rather that she believes it
symbolizes the kind of love her mother and father shared, something she
hope she would be able to experience.
Ranma: I understand. Okay, I'll get it. Wait...
(Ranma checks his pocket to make sure he has enough money. Luckily, he
has enough with even quite a bit of money left over.)
Ranma: Good, I've got enough.
Reia: Cool.
Akemi: I'm gonna browse for a bit. I like to window shop, if you know
what I mean.
Reia: Same here.
Ranma: Okay.
(Akemi and Reia walk off to look around at other selections of rings.
Ranma gestures toward the saleswoman that he would like to make a
purchase.)
Saleswoman: May I help you?
Ranma: (Points)Yeah, I wanna get that engagment ring.
Saleswoman: An engament ring you say?
Ranma: Yeah. I'm gonna ask the woman I love to become my fiancess
tonight.
(The sales opens up the case from behind the counter and points toward
the ring next to the one he was gesturing toward.)
Saleswoman: (Pointing)This one?
Ranma: (Pointing)Naw. That really small and dirt cheap one.
Saleswoman: .................
Ranma: (Pointing)That one, right there. Y'see it?
Saleswoman: Um, you said you were picking up an engagement ring, right?
Ranma: Yeah.
Saleswoman: (Gestures)Might I suggest this one? This is our most popular
engagment ring.
Ranma: Naw. That isn't the one. I wanna get that one.
Saleswoman: B-but this is an engagment ring. That is actually our
cheapest product.
Ranma: Don't mean anything to me, whether its cheapest or not.
Saleswoman: Surely you believe your girlfriend is worth more than such a
ring.
Ranma: Of course. She means the world to me.
Saleswoman: (Gestures)Then you should get her something like this.
Ranma: (Annoyed)Hey, if you like that ring, then you buy it. I want that
other ring, that cheap one.
Saleswoman: ...................
Ranma: I'm getting this ring cause it has sentimental reasons toward my
girlfriend....not because I'm cheap.(Thinking)She must want me to buy
that other ring because it's the ring she would like to receive as an
engagment ring. She should realize that other people's likes and dislikes
differ and that I'm not here to but the ring she likes but the ring Shori
likes. Jeez.
Saleswoman: Very well.
(The saleswoman takes the ring Ranma had pointed to. She brings it to the
front of the store, Ranma following her, where the cash register is and
rings it up. Ranma pulls out the wad of cash and pays it.)
Ranma: Thanks.
(Ranma walks over to Reia and Akemi and shows them his purchase.)
Akemi: Shori's gonna love it.
Reia: I'm sure of it.
Ranma: (Smiles)Good. Um, do I gift wrap this or something?
Akemi: ...................
Reia: ..................
Ranma: Do I give her just the ring? Or perhaps the tiny box with the ring
in it? Or should I have it gift wrapped as if it were present?
Akemi: Um, you don't watch television much do you?
Ranma: No.
Reia: You get down on one knee and show her the ring while its still in
the box and ask her to marry you.
Akemi: Yeah. Make sure you get down on one knee.
Ranma: Why?
Akemi: Every female knows exactly what that gesture means. It'll help
lessen the shock of being asked the big question if she's expecting it.
Ranma: Um, okay.
Reia: You can do it some other way of pleasantly surprising her.
Ranma: What do you mean?
Reia: Put it in her drink.
Ranma: Her drink?
Akemi: You do that with champagne. They're not old enough to drink stuff
like that. It just wouldn't look right putting the ring in a glass of
soda or water or juice.
Reia: That's true.(To Ranma)Nevermind.
Ranma: ...................
Akemi: Don't worry. I'm sure you'll do fine on your own.
Ranma: Um, I hope so.
Akemi: Now that we found the ring, we should find you some nicer clothes.
Ranma: What's wrong with the clothes I wear now?
Akemi: It's going to be a special occasion so you should dress the
occasion as well.
Ranma: Dress in what? I only have outfits like the one I'm wearing.
Reia: Well, looks like we're going to go help you pick out an outfit as
well.
(Ranma and the two girls leave the jewelry store. They head down the
street a couple of blocks before they stop at a clothing store.)
Reia: This is a good store.
Akemi: I agree. I'm sure we'll find something good for you to wear.
Ranma: Thanks.
(Ranma just checks through some random clothes. Before long, Akemi and
Reia approach him, a big grin on their faces. They hold out a single
outfit, both of them agreeing that this one outfit is best for Ranma.)
Ranma: This one?
Reia: Yeah. It'll look really good on you.
(Ranma looks at the outfit. Since he likes wearing Chinese clothing, he
easily recognizes that the outfit given to him was what people consider a
Chinese tuxedo, a very elegant-looking black one piece outfit with large
white cuffs. It consisted of black top that draped the entire body down
to the ankles and black pants.)
Ranma: Nice. Definitely a nice outfit to wear for a formal occasion.
Reia: Hey, if you wear this, we can choose a nice ankle length Cheongsam
outfit for Shori.
Ranma: A formal chinese dress, huh? That doesnt sound bad at all. That
way, neither of us would think each other overdressed.
Reia: That's right.
(Ranma takes the outfit and holds it in front of him as he looks at the
mirror. After a second, he nods approvingly.)
Ranma: Okay, I'll take this.
Akemi: Aren't you going to try it out?
Ranma: Nah. It'll fit.
Akemi: .................
Reia: .................
(Both girls look at each other.)
Akemi: It must be a guy thing.
Reia: Must be.
Ranma: Huh?
Akemi: Only guys can actually buy clothes without even bothering to try
them out. A girl can never do that, but an outfit without at least trying
it out. I don't know how guys do it, not feel one bit worried that it'll
be the wrong size when you actually try it on?
Ranma: I don't. Didn't you see me hold the outfit in front of me and look
at the mirror? That's how I can tell if it fits or not.
Reia: Must be a guy thing.
Akemi: Well, if you're gonna get it without trying it, then go ahead. I
suggest you at least try it out once though.
Reia: Don't bother. A guy's 'trying it out' is the act of holding it up
in front of mirror.
Akemi: ................
Ranma: I'll be right back. Lettme go buy this.(Walks of with outfit)
Akemi: I wish I can do that, just pick an outfit, just look at it without
wearing it, and be able to tell if it'll fit or not.
Reia: Wouldn't we all? It'll save quite a bit of time whenever we go
clothes shoppping.
(Ranma comes back a few minutes later. His purchase is now in a bag. He
has a meek smile on his lips.)
Akemi: Something the matter?
Ranma: The outfit is a bit expensive, and I spent all my money on it.
Reia: Okay. What about it?
Ranma: I'm bascially outta money. That means I'll have no money to pay
for tonight's date with Shori.
Reia: Oh.
Akemi: Don't worry, I'll give you money. Gotta wait until I get home
though.
Ranma: (Smiles)Thanks. I really appreciate it.
(We watch as the Ranma, bag hanging loosely over shoulder, and the girls
depart the clothing store. He escorts them both to Reia's house. Once
there, they drop Reia off, saying their goodbyes before Ranma and Akemi
head off for Akemi's house.)
Akemi: So, from my house you're going to visit Ryoga?
Ranma: Yeah, and then Sayuri and Kisen right from his place.
Akemi: You think you'll have enough time to get back in time?
Ranma: (Nods)Yeah. I'll be back with time to spare.
Akemi: That's good.
Ranma: You guys plan on going shopping?
Akemi: Yep. We originally wanted to just shop for a nice dress, but given
that this is actually a very special occasion, we'll help her find out an
exceptional dress.
Ranma: Won't she suspect something then? She is supposed to think that
this is just a regular date.
Akemi: Don't worry. We've got that covered. This is bascially what she
would consider a 'welcome back' date, which is special in itself.
Ranma: Oh.
(Ranma and Akemi soon arrive at Akemi's house.)
Akemi: Wait here. I'll be right back.
Ranma: Okay.
(Akemi goes in to her house. A minute later, she comes out with a large
sum of money.)
Akemi: Here you go. That'll be plenty enough for your date with Shori.
Ranma: (Shocked)T-this is a lot of money.
Akemi: (Smiles)Don't worry. It's money well spent.
Ranma: Thanks. I appreciate it. I'll be sure to pay you back.
Akemi: You better. I'm letting you borrow it, not lending it to you. I
bascially gave you a huge chunk of my savings.
Ranma: Don't worry. I'll find a way to pay you back.
Akemi: Good. But don't worry. There's no rush.
Ranma: Thanks.
(Ranma and Akemi says their goodbye. Ranma departs, heading for Ryoga's
house.)
Ranma: (Looking at bag of clothes)I'd like to ditch this outfit somewhere
but I guess it's best I not leave it somewhere. I'll just carry it with
me.
(Time passes as we see Ranma making his way toward Ryoga's house. He is
in no rush, choosing to take the train. As he waits on the train, he is
forced to stand since it is rush hour and there are many people taking
mass transit on their way home.)
Ranma: (Thinking)Maybe I should have just ran. Or at least sat on top
instead of being inside the train. It'll be quicker anyway.
(An arm of his dashes out and grabs the arm of the thief that just trired
to pickpocket him of his money and the engagement ring. He gives the
wrisst a quick twist, causing the man's arm to twist at an awkward angle
as they face each other.)
Ranma: (Sneering)I don't appreciate you trying to pickpocket me!
Thief: Ow ow ow!
(Ranma holds the man's wrist tightly.)
Thief: I-I'm sorry. P-please, lettme go.
Ranma: Nope. You're going to jail.
(Ranma holds the man until they reach a stop. We watch as he gets off at
the very next stop. It only takes him a short while to catch sight of a
police station.)
Thief: P-please, I don't wanna go to jail.
Ranma: Tough.
Thief: ....................
(Ranma manipulate the man in to the police station where he walks up to
an officer working behind a large counter that spanned the length of the
front of the room.)
Officer: May I help you?(Notices man)
Ranma: (Jerks thumb)Yeah, this man just tried pickpocketing me.
Officer: Oh really?
(The officer walks around the counter where Ranma shoves the thief toward
the officer where he was immediately handcuffed.)
Officer: Thanks.
Ranma: No prob.
Officer: We know this guy's a serial pockpocketer also. But we've never
been able to catch him in the act.
Ranma: Well I catch him.(Smirks to thief)Too bad, man, you messed with
the wrong guy.
(Ranma turns around to leave.)
Officer: Where are you going?
Ranma: I hafta be somewhere.
Officer: I'm sorry, but I need you to stay. There's a report you need to
fill out.
Ranma: Oh.
Officer: It won't take long though.
Ranma: Fine.
(Time passes as we watch Ranma fill out the report that would put the
thief behind bars, perhaps not for too long, but behind bars nontheless.
Ranma leaves and looks at his watch.)
Ranma: Damn, it took an hour to do that. It's not gonna give me much
time. Now I hafta run.
(We watch as Ranma makes a dash toward Ryoga's place. Little did he
realize that he accidentally left behind the bag that contained the nice
outfit that he was going to wear for tonight's date. A short time passes
before Ranma arrives at Ryoga's place. We watch as he gazes at the
house.)
Ranma: I'm pretty positive Ryoga isn't home but it doesn't hurt to give
it a try.
(Ranma walks up and knocks on the door. He waits a minute before knocking
again. He knocks again when there is no answer. After around five minutes
of waiting, Ranma comes to rhe realization that Ryoga isn't home.)
Ranma: What a waste of time. Knowing Ryoga, he's probably home but can't
make his way to the front door.
(We watch as Ranma reaches in to his pocket and produces the last bottle
of nanichuan.)
Ranma: I might as well drop this off, just in case he does show up.
(Ranma walks over to the mailbox and puts the bottle in there, making
sure the word 'nanichuan' could be clearly seen upon first opening the
mailbox. After doing so, he heads toward the west. After a short moment
of running, he comes to a sliding halt.)
Ranma: Damn, I forgot about that bag of mine.
(Ranma runs back to the police station to retrieve his bag. The officer
that he spoke to smiles at him and hands him the bag.)
Officer: I was wondering when you were going to realize that you forgot
it and come back for it.
Ranma: Thanks. I've been feeling bit absentminded all day.
Officer: That's fine. People are sometimes like that when there's a lot
on their mind.
(Ranma says his goodbye and exits the police station, heading west.)
