I'm surprised she hadn't tasted it already.  Serving without tasting was
one of Akane's big problems.

Yes, and it's meant to show just how out of sorts Nodoka is.  She's going
through the motions of life, trying to make it look as if nothing is
wrong, but she can't quite pull it off.

Shiro shrugged.  "She said Nabiki would have to be
pregnant if she skipped a big fancy wedding, or
something like that.  It didn't make any sense to
me."

It does make sense.  I'm reasonably sure it was not true before the

wedding

since Tatewaki and Nabiki haven't mentioned anything like that to each
other, but it was rather a jump from him proposing and confronting

to them waking up together.  It happened off camera, but I wouldn't be
surprised if they went shopping for rings, got carried away, and

proceeded

without much thought. That does seem a bit out of character for Nabiki;

I'd

have thought there might be alcohol involved, but there is not

indication

of a hangover at the end of chapter 90.

It was completely impulsive on their parts, which is why I wrote the "what
did I do?" thought for Nabiki the morning after.

Allison blushed.  "Actually, I came to say goodbye.
I'm going home."

That's too bad.  She had the makings of an interesting new viewpoint.

Allison was a guest character inserted as a gift to the real Allison, who
first contacted me when she was teaching in Ube and discovered this story.
She has since gone back to California, and was married earlier this year,
and I've not heard from her in a very long time (not since shortly after
she went home).

"It didn't even occur to me!"  Akane paused for a
second, and then gave Ranma an evil look.  "Does
that mean I can have your old ones?"

"Yeah, but they looked better on me."

"And they'll be a bit tight in the hips and loose in the --" WHAP!
I guess this isn't The Things We Wish For...

*Laughs*  No, it's not.  Even though I have written both of these
characters as being a little more grown up, and somewhat more in control
of themselves, Ranma has to trip over his tongue now and then, and Akane's
got to react.  Just not as violently as in the past.
