         Who needs Ranma/SM fics? Let's see some Ranma _S & M_ fics!

Kodachi in tight leather bondage... Mmmm...

I could plug my own "Kodachi's Chance" here, but that's a marginal
fit...and besides, my muse is calling.

The "Houdini Samurai" was a classic act. Its star performer kept coming
up with new tricks over the years, most notably with the introduction of
a boomer assistant, but the theme remained the same...and he never
failed to draw at least a small crowd every time. In interviews, he
credited his sister with helping him earn the first part of his stage
name, and his father with the second.

It was to this act that Linna dragged had Priss, to force-feed her some
"proper" culture. Although Priss insisted that she had been bored
during the act itself, Linna took Nene's suggestion of bringing along a
hidden camera - not to record the act, but to provide solid evidence
that, yes, Priss *was* enjoying herself. It accomplished that function
very well, though this was only part of the reason Sylia was now
reviewing the tape.

She had, of course, already heard Linna's and Priss's reports about the
boomer going rogue, so it was no surprise when that happened.
Forunately, the club was quickly evacuated, leaving only Priss, Linna,
and a handful of local youths who preferred to fight rather than flee,
along with the entertainer trapped on stage. Sylia recognized more than
a few as candidates she had considered for the Knight Sabers. Priss and
Linna just looked like the oldest of the bunch. They would probably
have been the most competent, too, if there had been a serious fight.

As it was, Priss and Linna knew that their small mob had more than
enough muscle to tear this entertainment unit apart. Priss threw an
empty can to attract the boomer's attention...and then the entertainer
had leapt towards his former assistant, bokken drawn. Priss started to
yell a warning as the sword struck home...

Sylia's eyes widened. To hear that the "Samurai" part had been more
than a label was one thing; to see it, something else. Several blows
seemed to miss entirely, only to leave their marks - either from air
pressure alone, or there were some sophisticated holographics that made
the weapon only look like an ordinary bokken. Sylia judged the latter
to be far more likely.

When it was all over, the remaining audience applauded, unsure of what
else to do in that situation. The performer bowed, then walked up to
Priss. "My apologies that tonight's session was cut short. It seems I
shall have to refine my act once again." He gently took Priss's hand in
his own and looked her in the eyes. "I thank thee for thy concern,
young lady, but in these times 'tis foolish to use a boomer and *not*
plan for its eventual treason."

"I...I..."

"Her name's Priss," Linna interrupted with a giggle, clapping a hand on
Priss's shoulder, "and no, she doesn't have a boyfriend."

Sylia scowled as Priss shot Linna a dark look. True, the Knight Saber
rules seemed to be honored more in the breach these days, but that was
almost over the line.

"I see. Then may I date with thee?"

Priss tried to resume her usual attitude for a moment, but surprise and
awe at what she had just seen won out. "...I don't even know your name.
Your real one, that is."

"Ah." He released her hand, took a step back, and posed. "I am the
Houdini Samurai, the rising star of..." He paused, eyes flicking up in
rememberance, then his tone dropped for a moment. "...a place that no
longer exists, but I carry its memories as the Blue Thunder!"

Sylia's eyes bugged out. Uh-uh. No way. Orbital satellite lasers,
fusion mechanics, high energy weapons of all kinds...everything she knew
about the subject said that controlled lightning like that, especially
indoors, just was *NOT* possible, even for a full boomer! Nene swore up
and down that the discreet scan she had taken of him when Linna asked
afterwards, "borrowing" AD Police equipment, showed 100% full human.
She considered the possibility of more holograms, but that required a
prepared generator, and the bits of ash drifting from the scorch marks
on the ceiling would require more programming than an effect like this
could possibly be worth.

"Kuno Tatewaki, age forty-seven."
