Thanks for the response! I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far.

Clow Reed, in the cartoon, seems to be (in the *few* episodes I've
seen
which starred him) mature and wise, not the irresponsible fellow
you've
written.

Are you going by the American version (Cardcaptors) or by the original
uncut version? Kero says at one point in the sub (the movie, I believe)
that Clow was a rather eccentric but powerful fellow. And he did make
cards like SWEET and FLOWER that don't seem to serve any useful purpose.
In my mind, his apparent incompetence is merely an expression of the
oddity of his genius. Then again, when you use the word "irresponsible"
to describe him, it immediately brings Justy Ueki Tylor to mind. You
know, the guy who just happens to win the day without seeming to have an
ounce of competence? That's what I'm picturing here.

Of course, I *could* be totally off with my characterization, but as you
said, not much is ever known about Clow, especially not in what I've
seen of the sub. The story may change in tone as I get to the episodes
where Clow appears. But as you say below:

That of course is easily fixable, if you include a comment
indicating that Clow is still fairly young, perhaps in his late teens
(old enough to be good at magic, but young enough to be
irresponsible).

That's how I pictured this story. If Clow ends up shaping up in his
later years, it may very well be a result of the quest he's about to
embark on.

At that very moment, the lab's owner, a 19 year old man, was seated
at the desk, ....

I've never been very good at describing my characters, have I? Maybe I
should give a full description of Clow in the first paragraph... but I
think he's a bit older than that in this story. I'd say 22. After all,
he already has quite a reputation, as we may see as the story
progresses. ^_^

I'm sure that over the course of your story, he'll grow up :)

I sure hope so, for his sake.

PS: My email server claims that "Nidoking" <Nidoking@RC_Books.zzn.com>
is an invalid email address! Any chance that you could get it changed
to something like Nidoking@rc-books.zzn.com? (That is, a hyphen
instead
of an underscore? I *think* such a change would make it work.)

Actually, what it's complaining about is the .zzn.com, not the
underscore. Is it the server or the program that says it's invalid?
Outlook Express gives a warning, but if you go ahead and send the
message, I'll get it. Yahoo won't accept it at all. But if you're able
to send it, it DOES resolve properly. If you really can't get through,
you can send to Nidoking042 at hotmail.com (I'm learning that it's a bad
idea to put valid addresses in E-mail...) and I'll get it there too. I
just redirect all personal mail to zzn because it's easier to deal with
that way.
