to your own unit, the mouse unleashes an "erase" program that
prevents you from loading that onto either your hard drive or a
diskette. Real NEAT little bugger, too. It doesn't damage your
computer, but if you want to make copies of Registrar records for
yourself..." he snorts. "Forget it. It won't happen."
The strength in Kumiko's voice fails as she falls back on her
futon, gazing blankly at the lone fan rotating overhead. No. It
just wasn't the least bit FAIR! It was bad enough that Mendou had
often been {: too} distracted by that Oni to pay attention to the girls who
DID love and care for him. It was worse that Mendou had dated
Shinobu Miyaki for so long. It was even worse that Ataru Moroboshi
always did his damnedest to keep forcing Lum away from him, thus
potentially making it easier for Mendou to claim the Oni's heart for
himself. But for this to happen...! But for THIS...!!
The bell rings. "Your warning is noted, Saotome-kun,"
Hinako nods as she proceeds to collect her books, then {head : heads} to her
first class.
He glances at her, then stares out the window. "Kumiko
Gekasawa, one of the girls from my old class who has a big crush on
Mendou," he reports. "She {nearly swallowed : swallowed nearly}a whole bottle of
sleeping pills this morning after she found out that Sword-for-brains
and Asuka were finally moving to tie the knot. Chikage sensed it
right away, then sent Yotsuba down to check it out with the help of
one of those synth doubles of mine."
"And even though many would say that **I** really have no right
to judge matters concerning others in matters like this, I also get
angry whenever I see you try to harass my good {friend : friends} there," Ataru
points to Ranma, then Akane. "And believe me, Kunou-san, you don't
WANT to know how I feel about you deliberately ignoring an oath she
made in her MOTHER'S memory just because you've got this insane crush
on her!"
As people ready themselves for class, Ranma relaxes in her
chair. Gazing at Ataru for a moment, she jots a quick note down,
then hands it to him. He reads it: DO YOU THINK KUNOU GOT THE
MESSAGE THAT TIME?
No.
"Traditionally, verbal promises between two close friends to
forge a marriage pact for their children are recognized as
legitimate," Hayato holds up a cautioning hand. "And yes, by
tradition, the chronologically first promise is the one which has
precedent. But the law nor custom did not anticipate what your
friend did, Tendou-san. Young Ranma would have had to been born {: more than}
SEPTUPLETS to fulfil all those promises his father made on his
behalf. And those are just the ones originating from Japan."
Negako watches them, then turns back to Chigaiko. The latter's
eyes are now slightly open. "Much that I am grateful to you for
doing this {to : for} me, Negako-san, I've just GOT to say this..." she
whispers. "You have all the emotional deftness of a drunk Godzilla
on the rampage."
'To' might be correct, but I'd expect Chigaiko to say 'for'.
