Every time this has come up in this fic so far, I am *forcibly* reminded
of
a quote from Susan Doenime's "PastPresent" (speaking of which, where's she
been? More! MORE!!!! <ahem>):

I haven't read that one, actually...

Of course, I'm still back, stuck reading Process of Elimination and Girl
Days, etc.

Ah, well. I'm always behind... until I find a moment and the inclination
to plough through it all.

He swore. This was bad. Granted, Soun's last secret
technique hadn't been very impressive - whoever had developed
the Hamster-ken must not have been quite right in the head -
but there was always the chance of him stumbling onto
something pretty devastating. For all Soun's dithering, he was
a very, very good martial artist.

Hamster-ken...

I know Eternal Lost Lurker was doing a Hamtaro fanfic, but I don't think
I've seen anyone do a Ranma/Hamtaro fusion/crossover yet. (Then
again, I'm not ahead on all the works that've been posted in that thread.)

Of course, finding a point to such an act would be staggering all by
itself. (I mean, the easiest way to do it would be "Ryoga falls into
Spring of Drowned Hamster" and Akane gets a cage and everything...)

Hmmm....I wonder if the ASPCA is aware of all these animal-based training
methods....

Well, it beats putting the poor critters to sleep without having had the
chance to help 'em fulfill some grand purpose...

To make matters worse, I've just taken an environmental ethics class
and I'm stuck in the mode of, "Now, is that a Anthropocentric standpoint,
an Animal Liberationist view, or a Holistic Ecologist perspective?"

The answer: Nothing's ethical anymore.

"Groundhog Day used to mean something!
They used to pull the hog out and they used to eat it!
  You're hypocrites! All of you!"

    -Bill Murray, Groundhog Day

So, we can shrug it all off and deliver the oddest, strangest, most
gruesome animal-based martial arts techniques imaginable.

Yes, we've got "The Tiger," "The Crane," "The Monkey," and so on.

But nothing can beat... The Badger Fist!!! ^_^

I figured that squirrels are innocent-looking enough, and vicious
enough when cornered to be sufficiently funny when treated as
an object of terror.

Besides, running, screaming from squirrels? That'd be like running,
screaming from Final Fantasy One's imps.

...

Well, yes, that works too, but in a different context. ^_^;;;
