What the fuck was this? If you thought that this was somehow a good
idea, you're poorly mistaken.

I thought it was quite funny, myself.

People are still people, and they do defy the stereotypes.

So why did you write in all the stereotypes?

Probably because A) stereotypes are often based in fact and B) you
would be hard pressed to find a black man (any man, really) who
objects to the idea that he is a sex god. Also, the chicken thing, that's
much more a southern stereotype than a black one. It's nearly the offical
regional food.

Why not just have Ranma dress up in black face and do a little
soft-shoe? Racial relations in the US and in Japan are bad enough
without trash like this being written.

Do you honestly believe that fanfiction can effect racial relations in
either of those countries?
Especially a story like this, that is plainly lampooning the popular
stereotypes? I highly doubt it.

Look, I believe racial issues could be very interesting fodder for fan
fiction. Some authors have sensitively handled some of the China/Japan
issues, and I think we're richer for it. But having Ranma running
around as an object of virility and asking for chicken is repulsive
and shows a deep lack of education.

Lack of education? Why are you personally insulting the
author out of the blue? And why should his level of education
matter? It sounds like you are trying to say that if he had gone to
high school, he would have known better than to write this story.
That's nonsense. Besides, I'm pretty sure Rainman's in college.

In the real world, people have preconceptions, and that's a fact. It's
not wrong to make a joke about them. It's wrong to deny someone
opportunities based upon their skin color or heritage, but if you think
that this story did that, you are taking all this far too seriously.

In short, relax. it's just a story, and if you don't like it, hit "delete".
I don't especially like getting lemons in my mail, but I just delete them,
I don't demand that the authors apologise for putting them in there. I've
read many things in fanfiction that offended me, but that's a risk you take
when you read self-published material. Just because this story happens to be
about something controversial in the US, doesn't give you the right to
control the writing of someone else. Free speech, ya know?
