 Heh.

I was informed that it probably wouldn't matter what sort of girl Ranma
was rescued by, so it now reads:

"That makes TWO times in a row I ain't been ready!" the young
man muttered angrily, slapping a fist into one hand. "First Rei gets
me with her ki-attack and THEN the Jade-guy. Grrr, what NEXT?! Oh
yeah, THEN I had to get rescued by a GIRL." He paused. "Well, two
girls."

Streamlined, sort of. ^_^

 Heh

I missed another potential joke, but Jussi Nikander graciously provided
it:

The boy stopped again, considering the girl in the obnoxiously-
cut sailor suit that had tried to defend him as well, but had failed.
"Sailor Moon? What kind of a name is that? Sounds Chinese. Or maybe
Swedish. Besides, aren't all Swedes supposed to be blonde? Hey,
Haruka's blonde! Does that mean she's Swedish? No, wait..."

 My, how logical.

His brain's higher functions are working overtime. In most anime
characters of this genre, it can be fatal. ^_^

Fixed it.

"My head hurts," Ranma muttered to himself, smoke literally
billowing from his ears as his preciously rationed neurons battled it
out between the desire to learn, the need to bathe, the desperate
need to learn Haruka's ki attack, and wanting to know what the deal
was with "Sailor Moon." To make matters worse, his brain was also
engaged in coming up with the right training routine to improve his
speed and strength to go along with all that.

Unless you mean he hasn't learned to bathe yet. :)

That would be a rather uncomfortable fact to see, wouldn't it? ^_^

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW, RANMA!!!"

 Hmm. Luna. perhaps?

Since this is the rough draft and I've precious little experience with
Ryouga, I'll need to strengthen his place in this.

Plus, I need to decide what kind of curse he's got. Oh, sure, it
LOOKS simple and straightforward enough, but is a simple
and straightforward curse like this really that entertaining?

I mean, there's nothing particularly fun about Spring of Drowned
Banana Slug, though some have suggested it for revengefics,
it wouldn't make for very entertaining revengefics (unless it were
someone I REALLY disliked ^_-).

But, at present, Ryouga's curse is still up in the air. We can
make it Luna, we can make it Artemis, we can make it Diana.
We can make a composite one--I just can't decide!

I'd made a weird decision once, but it just doesn't seem to
be very entertaining either.

 At least, so far. :)

Ahh, Setsuna's vulnerable side! ^_^

Heh. This I did not see coming, though I truly wonder if it's Ryouga or
 another substitue

It's Ryouga all right. There are no proper SM replacements.

I mean, there's Umino or one of the Star Lights, but none really have
the right flair for this sort of thing. Not that it matters if the shoe fits
or not, mind ye. ^_^

Hmm... It's not in my copy, but then again, AOL does weird things
with messages. It also chops out huge chunks of "<>" inner debate
in NETTG...

 Amen.

Nothing's scarier than a squirrel comin' in to greet'cha in the morning!

Oh? Does she suspect something even after the explanation?

Even if she doesn't, she's gotta keep up the act! ^_-

 Cats are like that.

Yup. Rather slippery things, actually.

^_^

 Setsuna should be happy.

I'm certain she is. ^_^

 There we go.

Can't be a complete loss for Setsuna, now, can it? ^_^

 Heh. Amusing.

Considering he's a man that's been raising his three daughters by
himself for the past few years, finding another (apparent) young
girl nearby is bound to bring up some... odd fathering instincts
now and again. ^_^

Not all the time, mind you, but just during critical moments and
when he doesn't have time to think about it.

Not familiar with the place. Made up or is it from something?

It's from a semi-obscure anime called "Nurse Angel Ririka."

The only ones I know that have seen it are Jussi Nikander and
Louis-Philippe Giroux.

And, unfortunately, both got too busy to help me integrate that
plot into the story, so I had to substitute a more commonly-known
series later on.

 True.

I'll have to expand on this later, but the mention suffices for now.

Or could pick off the guards one by one.

Brains slower than 8088 chip processors... I'm sure they'll think
about it, but in the meantime... ^_^

Beryl laughed a short evil queen's laugh. "I understand. What
 > are your plans?"

Jadeite: A bomb planted in their house while they're out. Set if off when
 they return.

 Beryl: Simple.

Jadeite: The more complex the plan, the more likely it's doomed to failure.
 Never underestimate sneaky and simple.

"Never underestimate da power of da SHWARTZ!"

That's a very nice idea. Have to assign a youma to follow them home,
stake them out, and leave explosives, etc...

But... we can't have them WIN just yet, can we? ^_^

Interesting little thing. As you said, it's a set up chapter. Will get to
 the next part soon.

Thank you very much! I'm sure the chapter'll get spruced up enough to
be passable and have a recognizable sequence of events later...

And, yes, setup. I think things could have been set up better, but
that's how they came out...

Revise, revise, revise. That's the way we go! ^_^
