Laughing harder, Shinobu put her hand over her mouth to
avoid spitting at Ranma, and glanced at her reflection in the
mirror. As Ranma's announcement had suggested, her mouth was neatly
ringed with foamy bubbles of toothpaste. Drawing in a breath to
laugh again, she choked on her toothbrush, and sat down heavily,
trying to breathe, as everything faded....
...only to return a half-second later.
She must be taking lessons from Mutsumi. :)

"That only makes it sound worse!" Shinobu protested,
running to hide behind Mitsune.
I'm beginning to wonder if Shinobu got ahold of some strange
mushrooms at the local market.

Motoko held her sword in a ready position, her knees
shaking slightly, and her eyes wide with shock.
Is Happosai wearing a turtle mask or something?
No, he's just creepy.
Ranma growled, reaching into his shirt, pulling out a
frilly
black lace bra, and throwing it to the ground. "Saving you a lot of
trouble," he spat. "Now stay out of the way, little girl. This is
_my_ fight."
Happosai would be in for a suprise if he tried for Motoko's bra,
since she doesn't wear one. She binds her chest mummy style with a
strip of cloth.
Actually, he was trying to put it on her -- I flubbed the description,
though. Will revise.
"None of mine!" Suu said cheerfully, until one of the
garments suddenly exploded with enough force to knock Shinobu and
Mitsune to their feet. "Well, maybe one," she allowed, shrugging.
That one would be Suu's, yes. ;)
That seems to be about the most successful of the jokes for this chapter. :)
"Do you want to talk about it?" Mitsune asked quietly.
Why does Kitsune always end up playing shrink?
She asks that herself, in a while. I suspect it's because she's the least
used and most established regular of the cast -- Mutsumi is obviously
more of an outsider than she, so....
"Ah! Urashima-sempai!" Shinobu cheered, relieved. "It's
you! For a moment I was afraid someone might have gotten hurt!"
Hehe. Reminds me of one of Motoko's lines from the manga, there.

Naru shook her head, sighing. "It's really bad," she
mumbled. "Really really really bad."
What was distracting Naru during the test? Did I miss something?
Hasn't been explained it yet. This will be explained in greater detail in
the next chapters.
"It would seem as though something is amiss," the woman
mused quietly. "Allow me to introduce myself -- my name is Aoyama
Tsuroko."
Tsuroko : Tsuruko

"Can't... breathe," he wheezed, until the woman loosened
her grip on him. "Um, it's been a while, Tsuroko-sensei."
Um, Tsuruko binds her chest like Motoko does. Unless she's just
crushing him that tightly?

My main problem with this scene is that this is the most emotionally
conservative person in the entire manga. Why is Tsuruko so overtly
affectionate?
This is a not-too-subtle reference (as some people have gathered) to
Goldenboy -- specifically, the Bicycle Race episode. Tsuruko is not
going to be exactly as canon....
"Much better!" the woman enthused. "Tell me, Ranma,
where-- rather, how is your brother?"
That's vintage Tsuruko, though. :)
... but some of the similarities will hopefully remain. :p
