[Horsefeathers! I don't know about DragonballZ, because I 
have never read it or watched the anime, but Clancy? Come 
on, Allyn. Did you have your glasses on? Jack Ryan, Marco 
Ramius, John Clark, Dink Chavez, President Fowler, Edith 
Elliot, Mary Pat Foley, these are all rather memorable 
characters, Allyn, and all of them were created by Tom 
Clancy. He does both good guys and bad guys very well. What 
is even more amazing about Clancy, is that he catches the 
subtleties of a character, not just the grosser, comic book 
grade characteristics.

I'm a big Clancy fan myself and I would have to agree with
Mr. Granberry that he was pretty good with his characters.
However, I like to think of myself as open-minded and therefore
would like to know specifically in what way you think characters
like Jack Ryan have as much characterization "as a bowl of
week old noodles".

I'm not sure if such a reply would constitute an unnecessary
spam on the list so a private reply would certainly be welcome.

By the way, I've noticed that Clancy does violate the "one POV
per scene" quite often. At first it was unnerving but I guess
one gets used to it.
