Haven't you considered that he might have taken her name?
In particular, if she has no brothers, her parents would want the family
name to continue on... with no male sons, the obvious thing to do is to
get her husband to take on her name, possibly even making that a
requirement for marrying her.
Seems Kachiko already had quite an interesting life even before she
fell into the world of her daughters and alleged-future-son-in-law.
It's also a good thing Gos's father met his own 'Ifurita,' or else he
wouldn't have been born.
I don't still have the story in front of me, but there's reason to
assume that whoever/whatever Gos dug up dated/married/whatever with
him... after all, he's still in high school. We don't know how old
Kachinko was when she had Kasumi, so there's a bit of leeway for how
much time between "then" and "now". That attempt could have bombed out
for him, followed by him finding a real girl some time in college.
