I think these resources are useful
for any fiction writer.
BUT
PRIVATE Replies, please.

I’ve just spent he last week researching a name for
the main character of an original story I’m working on.
(I’ve also gone through about 18 different titles, but
that’s another story)
I’ve been looking through my kanji dictionaries,
looking at On and Kun readings and just ordered two
books (used of course) on-line and I’m FINALLY getting
close to the name I want. ONE name out of what’s going
to be a novel length work (hopefully)

Why do I think names are so important?

Who do you believe as 007?
Bond, James Bond
 or

Schwartz, Melvin Schwartz.

A rose by any other name might smell as sweet, but
you don’t give a dozen skunk-cabbage for Valentines day
even if they’re soaked in Chanel No. 5.

“Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?”
Is a plea, asking why Romeo has the NAME of her
familie’s worst enemy.

Heroes have to SOUND heroic and villains villainous.

Tolkein had Orcs after all, NOT Fluffies.

Names can make or break a story.
