But, didn't Asuka already figure out that Shinji could manipulate

reality?  
I distinctly remember her saying he brought her back to life, because he

goofed up her bust size.<<

I checked the previous chapters, you are correct. Asuka figured out
Shinji had recreated her and Misato back in chapter eight. I'm surprised
it wasn't expanded upon since. Did Shinji 'tweak' them to forget it?
