True, but she's here now, so the wish worked regardless of what
consequences
in theory might have come about. Now it there's some other side
effects
from
the wish other than Kachi's presense, that remains to be seen.

Wellll...I don't have the original available, but best as I can
recall,
Akane's wish was "I wish Mother had never been in a car accident so
that she
could be with us today." Depending on just how much power and
discretion/imagination the genie had, I'd say that the "so that..."
clause
would have forced it to somehow make some kind of arrangement to
prevent a
temporal paradox. Of course, the "today" part leaves a loophole --
the
simplest solution I can think of would be for Kachi to end up going
back and
marrying Soun and having her daughters *without* having been in a
car
accident. Of course, I doubt Kachi would be amenable.

My error concerning the wish's wording has already been raised.

Of course, maybe the wish will end up returning her to her original
location in space-time just a second or two after she was pulled
forward in time. Of course, Kachiko's memories of what is to come
(the past to the Ranma 1/2 crew) would have be locked away.

I mean, if you told - and *showed* - me that I'd have to give up all
my dreams to get married to someone that I don't like (at least the
future version of them) and have kids at a young age. All so the
precious timeline would be safe when I then die while I'm still pretty
young.

I'd probably ask what was in it for me. And they'd better make it
good.

I'd say, though, that *something* has to happen to fix the
apparent
paradox, and that it's already in the works, due to the wording of
the wish.
Our Heroes have a temporal time bomb (Pluto ex machina? <grin>)
counting down
on them and they don't even know it. Should be interesting to see
what
happens next.

The possibility of paradox is part of the reason I went with the
"magical clone with memories" senario. Particularly since her friend
Sakura told "Akane" (really Kachiko) that she didn't know of any trips
that Kachiko made when she was 17.

Also, at least in the cannon, Ranma 1/2 seems to follow the idea that
you can't *really* change the past. The Namban Mirror comes to mind,
for example.

One thing I wonder, though: can the "Nerima Effect" screw up
the Genie's
powers the way it kees screwing up Ranma&co's lives?

When do things *ever* go to plan when Nerima (particularly the Tendo
and Saotome family members) and its "visitors" are concerned?

Then again, this *is* a fanfiction story, so the author gets to decide
what to do. :-)

So I guess we'll have to watch and see.
