Author's note
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Normally, a songfic is about using a song to convey emotions
that are within the characters within the fanfic. But this
is probably different. This is kind of an original fan
songfic or something. I'm using short lyrics that I just
whipped up in my mind. Biggest influence is to WFROSE's
Ranma fic Just Plain Hard. It had Ranma spittin', so I had
to do one also.
But I also liked to do more of a background of why the song
was chosen.
Please, be patient with me. It's my first time writing
lyrics. I'm a bit influence by my brother who happens to
be an emcee. I love hip-hop, not just the music, but the
rythym and creativity it allows. Too bad that there are
many posers and fakers that claim to be hip-hop just by trying
to dress hip-hop. It's a music yes, but it's also has soul
when it is allowed to be. Just like jazz or blues.
This fic is like a transformation of Ranma, a realization
that he doesn't have to be what other people expect him to
be. Just like me; people expect that I probably listen to
punk or pop music, not hip-hop because I happen to not look
like it.
So, bare with me and on to the fic.

Lyrical Mic Club stage - 11:35 PM
=================================================================
Ranma sighed and let out a breath. However, it wasn't just
a calm kind of sigh; it had a nervous or a tense tone.
Nervousness is completely evident everwhere on Ranma's body
and pose. He kept hopping rapidly as if his feet was on hot
coals. Probably, that is what the young boy felt as he
held a helpless expression on his face.
Ranma was full of worry.
Ranma was worried. He was afraid he would mess this up.
He was afraid that he might not have enough skill to
freestyle, and that he would screw up and managed to get
himself booed off the stage. After all, he was still
new to this game.
However, when he looked at the crowds, there was Kuno,
fellow rapper and good friend. He gave a thumbs up to
Ranma. The pigtailed thought back to how Tatewaki led him
to this stage...
----------------------------------------------------------------
Some months ago...
----------------------------------------------------------------
It was a long time ago, well just months ago when Ranma
had nothing to do in his spare time. He was a bit tired
from his endless martial arts practice and his hourly
ambushes from his rivals. In addition, the tired boy
was in need of entertainment. Boredom was reigning control
and Ranma needed to do something to combat the condition.
Television to him didn't really qualify entertainment, so
the only thing Ranma could think of besides eating and
sleeping was listening to the radio.
Ranma listened to this unknown song that was playing
from the radio. To him, it was unique; it was unlike
anything he had before. The radio DJ announced that this
was a rap song was from a rapper named Kwali, however Ranma
had never heard about what a rapper is or what is a rap
song. The young boy's ears tuned in and captured the
rythymic beats of the background music. Sure the
background music was looped, but the synchronized rythym
of the beats ensnared his interest. The lyrics were in
English; although Ranma couldn't understand them he
was attracted to the fact that the words were in rythym
to the music. The young martial artist found his
body and soul bouncing and swaying to the music, and
Ranma rememorized the words through through rythym.
The teenage boy was hooked.
Unknowing to all, Ranma listened and rhymed to every
lyrics of any rap song from the radio. He secretly
saved money to buy himself a CD-player and rap albums,
both English and Japanese, to listen to the music.
The pigtailed boy started to research into what the
music was really about. It was actually hip-hop:
lyrical poetry in motion. He heard acupellas, cyphers,
battles, anything he could get his hands on. He heard
gangsta rap which was totally different from hip-hop,
but nevertheless it was captivating due to the hard
lyrics and dark beats. Whenever Ranma was angry, all
he had to do was pop in a CD of Gangsta rap and waste
away.
However, despite his interest, Ranma was still paranoid
and kept his interest from anybody. Technically,
Most of the people in his life, fiances, and the
Tendo family still believed that he had no interests
outside of martial arts. He was mostly afraid of
Nabiki, whom might exploit his interest, and Pop, who
denounce his interest as being a distraction from his
martial arts. Getting straight to the point, Ranma
wasn't ready to confront with any kind of problems
that may pop up once his interest was reveal. So,
Ranma tried to keep it a secret.
But alas, sometimes his interest wasn't easy enough
to hide. Instead of sleeping in class, Ranma would
sometimes close his eyes and bob his head to an
imaginary beat while recalling the lyrics from
"Rapper's Delight". Even the way he walked seemed as
if his flowing in rythym. The folks from Furinkan
seemed surprised at the change of the pigtailed boy's
character. He was less brash and seemed more calmer.
However, there was one student who didn't seemed that
surprised.
It was Kuno.
Although Kuno noticed a change in Ranma, he dismissed
it and resumed his vengeance on his eternal enemy.
Ranma thought Tatewaki was oblivious to everything
until he found his secret while noticing him during
the late night.
Ranma followed Kuno when he walked out his mansion.
There was something about Kuno. His clothing and
walking was different than his original state. Just
like Ranma, his walk was rythymic, as if there was
a beat on every step. Tatewaki was dressed in a
long sleeve sweater with a decorated word HARD-CORE,
baggy pants that seemed to overlap his sneakers,
and a cap flipped sideways on his head.
The young martial artist followed into a club in
which he didn't existed in Nerima District: "The
Lyrical Mic." Inside this club, it was filled with
people of all ages, bobbing to the music, rapping
poetry from the beats delivered from the DJ, and
breakdance boys strutting out there moves. It was
like a total base for the soul of hip-hop to reside
in.
However, what shocked Ranma the most was when Kuno
went of to the stage, he rapped professionally to
the beat. His lyrics were impressive, resulting
in the howling of the crowds and laughter when he
wittingly insulted another rapper trying to insult
him and control the mic.
Kuno can rap! He can rap really well!
After that night, the pigtailed martail artist
confronted Tatewaki about his secret and desperately,
however with a bit of reluctance, pleaded him to
teach him how to rap. After countless pressure
and the promise to keep the Tatewaki secret, Kuno
agreed to teach Ranma.
Ranma wrote and wrote with the guidance of Tatewaki
Kuno. Lyrics after lyrics, MC_SwordBoy, Kuno's
emcee name, taught him to use metaphors and other
vocabulary in both English and Japanese. Because
of Kuno's tutelage, Ranma's grades in English
managed to go up, despite the surprise on Hinako's
face. Both rappers spent everyday sparring with
each other physically and lyrically.
One day, Kuno came straight up to Ranma. He told
him that couldn't just write and repeat the
memorized words; he need to ryhme lyrically by
his own mind without any writing. Just straight-up
lyrics straight off the mouth. The only way to
improve this was to go to a mic session.
And so off to the Lyrical Mic Club...
====================================================
Ranma stared at the crowd, most anticipating on
how Ranma, who's seemed like a straight up
martial-arts jock, can actually spit. Ranma turned
to the DJ and nodded to signal the beginning of
the beat. The DJ scratched out a fresh, east-coast
beat, and the pigtail newbie rapper began his
mic session.
"Yo, it's the R to the A to the N-M-A,"
"You better stop cuz this game ain't for you to play."
Ranma faltered but then came back to the beat.
"My punches are like Shaolin, they packed with martial power,"
"I'll pound yo ass down shakin' like the Two Towers."
"I'm the main fear to cause other emcee's to flee,
"Can't you just give up realize you just an em-tease?"
The crowd were a bit amazed at Ranma's flow. It
seemed to flow good for a newbie.
"Think about it, your rhymes are too wack to be solid,"
"Better not make me angry, or it's Raging Tiger Bullet!"
Most people chuckled at that line, remembering Ryouga's
attempts to kill Ranma using that ki-move.
"My delivery's hard like the chestnut fist,"
"Quad punches, triple speed, you too hurt to spit."
"You think you hard? Bitch, stop trying to play this,"
"You haven't been rocked through Akane's mallet hits."
"Hell, even my fiance can be more harder than you,"
"Shit, her cooking's more stronger than Thai food!"
Some people softly muttered, "Damn" at the lines where
Ranma made fun of his fiance.
"Yo, It's like this, you think you too damn tight?"
"I'll put your ass, tight bond, deliver you to Kodachi's night!"
This was got most of the entire crowd running with
laughter, including Kuno. Almost everybody know
how Kodachi seemed kind of sadistic.
"You better know ya role cuz' its Anything Goes,"
"Martial Arts power is within my flow!"
"The lines I be spittin' are just burning with ki,"
"They're all Duracell, ain't no dollar batteries!"
"An ending this rap session you best realize this,"
"Get off my jock, you just too soft bitch."
As the beat softened, Ranma bid goodbye to the audience.
"And I'm out. Peace."
After the mic session, Ranma recieved alot of praise like, "
Damn, I didn't know you could freestyle!" or, "Damn, that was
tight yo." Some better emcees gave the pigtailed emcee lots
of support and advice on how to be a better freestyler.
After the sessions were over, Ranma let out a big sigh, finally
glad it was over.
"I'm glad you showed them something Ranma," said Kuno, who was
now acting normal.
"Y-y-yeah. I guess," Ranma nervously responded, still charged
from the past events.
"Come on. Let's go home," suggested MC_Swordby.
"I'm down," Ranma heartilly agreed.
And so the pigtailed martial artist found out he could do
something different than just martial arts. He could rap.
Determined, Ranma now had the goal of becoming the illest
he can be.
Ranma the ill emcee.
He liked the sound of that.

THE END
---------------------------------------------------------------
I know the lyrics aren't good. Just a newbie I told you. By
the way, "Rapper's Delight" is a song from an old-school hip-hop
crew, the Sugar Hill Gang. Old but tight track.
Hope you enjoyed it. Not really a serious fic, but nevertheless
an okay one.
