    Actually, it may be her canonical surname.  It was in one of the manga, 
the story arc where one of the NIT professors twigged that there was 
something unusual about her and got obsessive about uncovering her secret.  
She ended up falsifying a paper trail for herself, and the name on the sheet 
I recall seeing was "Belldandy Asgard."  Of course, that's post-translation.  
And I can't honestly recall if it was one of the Viz translations, or one of 
the chapters coming out in Mangazine (I don't know just how "canonical" those 
are, since they seem to differ from the original plot in certain ways).
