While that wouldn't take much, for an awful lot of Japanese
teachers of English, where did Ranma learn to speak it?
Could be either during the past 2-3 years, which we don't
know about, or you could be making a point about stopovers
in Hong Kong and/or Singapore during the earlier training
period (prior to the manga).

       The latter doesn't seem too likely, since we know
Hinako teaches them English, and - from the story where
she tries to tutor Ranma - he's an indifferent student at
best during high school, so he apparently didn't learn
too much before the manga. For that matter, I really doubt
he'd have learned much since the manga - it doesn't seem
like him - but one could assume that for the sake of the
story, if it seems necessary.
