challenge, I'll comment on this one here.

Having had issues with your treatment of Genma in other fics, it's nice
to see you doing a story that's unabashedly pro-Genma. One thing did
confuse me on this one, though. Akane tells us that Ranma's attitude (or
at least as expressed outwardly) toward Genma has changed quite
recently. But the reasons we're told for the changes are all old ones,
dating back to before the beginning of the manga. If there's a recent
change, why?

RANMA: Pop saved my life three years ago. I only just realized that I
oughtta be *nice* to him!

AKANE: No wonder it took you so long to commit to marriage. A little
slow on the uptake, are you?

RANMA: Dunno. Lemme think it over for six months.

Er, I think you missed the relevant passage.  Here it is:

"Couldn't you tell how tired he was?  I mean his
mouth worked just fine, because he kept putting his
foot in it, but something was wrong.  He couldn't
keep up with us when we were traveling from Jusendo
to the coast, and he kept falling asleep on the
ship.  I think that whole trip took a lot out of
him."

This is the reason we're given for Ranma's change in behavior.  Genma is
having trouble after the trip, and Ranma is concerned about him, since he
hasn't recovered completely yet.  No doubt they will act as usual once Genma
is feeling better, but that's simply the type of relationship they enjoy
having with each other.  Or, at least, that's how it's presented in the fic.

Because this is from Akane's POV, however, the change seems sudden (although
it's noted quite clearly when this begins; right after Jusendo), as she
apparently had never noticed previously that Ranma and Genma weren't REALLY
fighting.  All she knows is that Ranma is suddenly being nice and caring
towards his father, without any noticable (to her) reason for doing so.  So,
she asks.
