I think Takahashi beats us all since the storyline in
general is very much The Taming of the Shrew
Eh? Aside from having a hero and heroine arguing
and fighting with each other, which would include about
90% of all manga and anime involving some element of romance
ever made, what do Ranma 1/2 and The Taming of the Shrew have
in common? I mean, can anyone compare Ranma to Petruchio
with a straight face? Ranma's just not that smart or that
skilled at dissimulation. And Akane isn't a tenth the
shrew Kate is. Nor is their relationship the same.
I think the comparison to Much Ado About Nothing's
Beatrice and Benedick is a better one, not that I think
there's any influence there either.
