I tried to avoid contributing to all of this "challenge" spam, really I
did, but the temptation was too great. ^_^;;;

I think Takahashi beats us all since the storyline in
general is very much The Taming of the Shrew
Ummmmmm... really?
TAMING: None of the local males is interested in Katharine, the "Shrew";
all of them hope instead to marry her gentle sister.
RANMA: The local males fight every morning for a chance at dating Akane.
Only one male is ever known to be interested in her gentle sister, one
who is unable to express himself around her and vanishes quietly about a
third of the way through the series.
TAMING: Petruchio travels to Katharine's home with the intention of
winning her for his wife.
RANMA: Ranma is dragged to Akane's home by his father, and has no
interest in marrying her.
TAMING: Petruchio has a gift for charming people with his wit and good
humor.
RANMA: Ranma has a gift for putting his foot in his mouth.
RANMA: The local doctor tells Ranma that Akane is really a very sweet
girl; he doesn't believe it at first.
TAMING: The local music teacher tells Petruchio that Katharine is not at
all sweet; he doesn't believe it at all.
TAMING: Petruchio woos Katharine by complimenting her beauty and taking
pleasantly anything she says or does.
RANMA: Ranma calls Akane a tomboy with no sex appeal.
RANMA: Ranma shows no real interest in sorting out his relationships
with Akane and other women.
TAMING: Petruchio plans a thoughtful and detailed strategy to improve
his relationship with Katharine.
TAMING: Petruchio asks Kate (Katharine) to kiss him.
RANMA: Ranma can't bring himself to kiss Akane even when it means a
possible cure for his curse.
TAMING: Kate and Petruchio get married.
RANMA: Akane and Ranma don't get married.
TAMING: Kate eventually convinces everyone that she is a completely
changed person.
RANMA: Though Akane has a better relationship with Ranma, she is clearly
the same person at the end of the manga that she was at the beginning.
