And I finally find the time and energy to catch up on and C&C this
story...

And I finally get around to replying.  Apologies for the delay, this weekend 
has been pretty hectic.

I'm not leaving here without some answers, she decided, and stepped
toward
a spring.

I'm pretty certain that the comma after decided isn't necessary.

Hmm.  Are you sure?  It feels kind of ... rushed?  I'm not sure.  I'll have 
another look at that section.

"At last, you have awoken.  Welcome home, Mother."

And so it seems our "hunters" have made their appearance... interesting.

Well, perhaps one of them.

This continues to be a quite good story.  I'm very definitely hooked and
can't wait for the next chapter (can't believe I missed Chapter 3 either,
but such is life).

Well, I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far.  It's turning out to be 
different to my original plan, which is interesting but not very surprising. 
  I'm pleased to have hooked you.  ;)
