The only thing that really bothered me about this was the way Kiyone
disappeared so completely for the whole day. It's mentioned that,
unlike earthlings, she has a way of causing the alcohol in her system
to go away, or to quit affecting her, so that she no longer has a
hangover. So her sleeping all day when Ranma is up and about seems a
bit odd, and it also seems odd that nobody is talking about Kiyone
except during the brief stint where everybody was. Somebody should
have asked if she'd wake in time for dinner, or brought up the way
she'd met a guy the night before, with Ryouko using it to tease Tenchi
if nothing else. That she totally vanishes just seems a bit hard to
believe, and the story could probably benefit if she's at least made
reference to around Ranma. Ryouko can say something to Tenchi, Sasami
could wonder aloud if she should set some food aside, etc. Something
to indicate that they haven't completely forgotten about her.
Chalk it up to plot contrivance. I wanted to give Ranma a full day to settle
in before THAT particular shit hit the fan. If you want a more valid
explanation for it, then just assume the following:
A. Kiyone is the polar opposite of Mihoshi. Meaning that Kiyone is adverse
to performing below-par on the job, whether it be her actual job, or one of
the myriad part-time jobs she and Mihoshi take on Earth. Given this, Kiyone
only has one day of the week to do nothing but rest, and working with
Mihoshi all week is pretty exhausting. Coupled with the fact that she didn't
do much actual sleeping the night before *cough*, had to get up early and
deal with GP business, and just felt like having a rare, deserved lazy day,
Kiyone decided to spend the day napping. After all, she doesn't get the
chance often.
B. Any time Kiyone was mentioned at the Masaki house, Ranma was out of
earshot. Sasami could have asked Mihoshi if Kiyone was coming by for dinner,
for example, while Ranma was chatting with Tenchi, most likely in the
kitchen while Ranma was out in the living room.
But, like I said before, it's more or less plot contrivance, and I'm not
ashamed to admit it outright. ^_^
