Only narrative problem I can see is -- why would the Nanniichuan work that
way, adding half of the first curse to half of the second? It's not a bad
idea, but it seems a bit arbitrary.

One piece of canon evidence that points this way (which has been noted by 
other people before me): Pantyhose Taro and the pool of drowned octopus
(how do you drown an octopus?).  Not completely indicative, as Taro only
splashed the cursed water on his back, rather than totally immersing 
himself.  As a semi-canon note, Ms Takahashi herself has stated in interviews
that Nannichuan *would* be a cure if Ranma could get it.
