I would like to point out briefly though to those who
say that it highly unlikely that Ranma would choose to
live as a heterosexual female, don't be too sure. At the
risk of being accused of taking this "too seriously", I
would like to engage everyone to consider that when Ranma
changes to female, his entire body changes to female.
This includes, among other things, brain functions and
feminine hormones.

I hope you're consistent then, and believe that the others are attracted
to animals, based on their cursed forms.  Shampoo wants to have sex with
guy cats, Mousse with female ducks, Genma with female pandas, Ryouga with
female pigs....

Well, absolutely! Provided that they were stuck that way for a long time...

Getting hit on the head and forgetting which species they started as
would probably help too. On the other hand, Shampoo wouldn't
have much choice in the matter if she got stuck, as tabbies go into
heat. Her body would be putting out all of the physical signals and
would be pumping the right hormones into her to get her 'interested',
so it's largely a matter of how long she could fight it (and the male cats)
off. Sure, she'll probably endure the first few times, or maybe even a
year or three of this without giving in, but that one is a losing battle.

And, quite frankly, given Genma's demonstrated moral character,
it wouldn't surprize me if he was shacking up with a female panda
in the zoo whenever *she's* in heat...

Ryoga and Mousse could probably resist the hormones put
out by their cursed forms for as long as Ranma could. Perhaps
longer, because Ranma *stays* in the same species, and therefor
has *less* of a paradigm shift to overcome (or serve as a defence).

Thy Outward Part was a well written exploration of the struggle
it would take for Ranma to deal with the shift, and even then
Ranma has to take the concept of love and seperate it from
gender most of the time. Ranma would probably have had just
as hard a time trying to adjust *her* views in order to enter a
relationship with another girl during that period, with the
possible exception of Akane (who couldn't deal with Ranma
at that point in their relationship and drove the neo-girl away).

Thy Outward Role could be expanded to explore the other
possibility of Ranma becoming a lesbian. It could easily be
rewritten and drawn out into an epic character study dealing
with Ranma's continued interest in girls warring with her own
discomfort with the concept of two girls in love. Or Haruka
could just drag the shorter girl off for some hanky panky, get
caught in the act by Micharu, and Ranma gets to be in the
middle of a huge break-up fight between the two outer senshi...

Far more likely than either case though, is Ranma either growing
old and lonely, never coming to terms with her being stuck as
a girl, or committing suicide (honerable or otherwise) in order
to end her misery. Both of which could make good story
subjects, but don't do much for Ranma personally...

Otherwise, this 'Ranma is a real girl' belief doesn't hold water.

Oh, by the way. Has it ever occured to anybody that Ranma
as a real girl might not actually be interested in *anybody*?
