I'm writing a one-shot ficey-wic, and I was wondering if anyone would be
interested in prereading it whenever I finish (this may not happen for a
while). I've pasted a little excerptey-werpt below, so give it a read and
tell me what you think, me droogs. Have a real horrorshow time.

Ranma gazed blankly out the hospital window. Her mind was a blank, as it
had been since she had arrived. The institution wasn't all that bad,
really; yeah, everyone treated her like she was insane, but it wasn't like
they were tossing her into walls or keeping her alive on bread and water.
She got a nice, warm bed in which to spend the nights; she got three hot
meals every day; she even got time in the gym when she wanted to train.

But that wasn't the problem. The problem was that, though she routinely did
all of that and more, her mind was empty - completely gone. Nothing went on
above her neck at all. She moved mechanically, ate mechanically, even
laughed mechanically when the doctors or nurses would tell jokes. Ranma
Saotome was, effectively, dead to the world.

"Good morning, Ranma," smiled a portly little nurse, coming up behind the
redhead. "What do you feel like doing today?"

Ranma's reply was a long time in coming, as if it took a time for her brain
to process what she was hearing, and even longer to formulate and spit out a
response. "I think I'll leave today," she said quietly, not even looking to
the nurse. "Yes," she repeated after another short pause, "I think I'm
going to leave. That will be nice." Her voice was flat, as if she didn't
actually believe that it would be nice. "I'm going to go home today."

"Ranma," replied the nurse sweetly, "you know you can't go home yet. I'm
sorry, but you've still got a lot of time to spend in here. If you want to
get out, though," she smiled, taking Ranma's arm and helping her to stand,
"there is a trip to the local art museum if you'd like."

Standing silently, still staring out the window, the young boy-turned-girl
yanked her arm out of the nurse's grasp. "No," she said, a bit more
forcefully, "I think I'll be going home, now. Where are my clothes?"

"Ranma," the pudgy woman said, a scowl forming on her face, "don't be
difficult. You know you can't go home. Now, stop this nonsense and come
with me. I think you need some of your pills."

Ranma stared out of the window for a few more seconds before turning and
looking directly into the nurse's eyes. "No, I don't. What I need is my
clothes. I'm going home, now." She then pushed past the startled woman and
walked out into the main hallway. She moved to the door that separated the
patient area from the doctors' area and stared at it blankly for a second.
Suddenly, and with speed and power she hadn't shown for many months, Ranma
struck the solid metal door, denting it heavily. Shouts arose from further
within the building, but Ranma just calmly pulled her fist back and struck
it again, denting it further. She managed to get off two more good punches
before two of the male nurses grabbed her.

Somewhere in the deep recesses of Ranma's mind, she smiled.

A room. Dark. A figure sitting calmly on a stool.

A light thunders on with a loud crash, illuminating a circle around the boy
in the middle of the room.

Ranma Saotome opens his eyes tentatively, letting his eyes get used to the
light. "What the...?" he softly whispers to himself as he takes in his
surroundings. "Where am I?"

A click sounds behind him. Whirling to meet the potential threat, Ranma
tenses when he sees that it's a television set. That turned on by itself.
And that isn't plugged in. And that is floating about a meter and a half
off the ground.

He jumps again as the screen abruptly turns from static to a black screen.
"Well," remarks the pig-tailed boy to himself, "I guess someone wants me to
watch, or sumthin'." He looks around, then shrugs and sits back down on the
stool. "Nuthin' better to do, I guess."

A catchy little J-pop song starts pouring from the speakers on the set.
Ranma watches intently. "Hey...that character looks like me. Wha...'Ranma
?' That IS me! What the hell is going on, here?" He sits forward as the
episode starts, intent on figuring out just what is happening.
