or even just grammar and spelling errors. Just that he wasn't going to
alter the basic plot. This still allows for comments on how you believe
that plot might better be expressed, comments on how the characters are
acting within the scope of that plot, tips on how a paragraph might work
out and others. Perhaps he doesn't want these either, but I didn't draw
that from what I read.
I don't care if people don't use my comments, or disagree with them. But
the rudeness that has been displayed by Mr. Jones is a different story, and
is one of the reasons I and other people I know don't do more C&C. IF the
author is too busy to acknowledge it, what's the point. It's a waste of my
time. Which I have precious little of. And MR. Jones is not the sole case
of authors pleading for comments but ignoring the people who they want
comments from.
I don't know, from what I remember of the few times I was able to send
commentary I at least got a response acknowledging it. If he didn't do
something along those lines like you mentioned, it is fairly rude. But
frankly, even if it's just to "stroke his ego" I'm at least willing to send
something letting an author know I enjoyed his story, if I did, since he
provided that entertainment. Unfortunately I don't always get around to it,
but I try, especially in the case of long lasting series such as newRanma.
