1.  We know a Headmaster can't transform without the head unit, but what
are the benefits it has over your run of the mill Transformer?
What about Targetmasters?

I think the whole point was that the <whatever>-masters basically had
additional computation units.  In this manner, the Transformers did whatever
they needed to do while the Headmasters provided support; Targetmasters
handled targetting (while the Transformer is dodging/driving/whatever), etc.

2.  Why do Autobots such as Kup, Wheelie and Arcee never get an
Earth-style transformation but Autobots such as Ultra Magnus and Goldbug
do get one?

My theory on this has always been that Kup and Arcee came to
Earth after the space gate was built. Since they weren't on
the Ark when it crashed, Teletran 1 never rebuilt them.

Wheelie was from the movie. I don't believe he ever went to Earth.

The only ones with Earth style transformations were those that either were
on the Ark when it rebuilt the various Transformers or those that needed
Earth style transformations to fit in.

Newer Transformers, like Hot Rod and Springer, were a mix of futuristic and
Earth style (or maybe simply that Earth styles were now simply more
futuristic looking).
OTOH, Goldbug is really Bubblebee upgraded.

3.  Arcee from post-movie episodes looks remarkably like Alita-1 from
pre-movie.  Is this just a coincidence or is it more like a
Bumblebee/Goldbug thing?

No Clue

Although she looked like Alita-1, I got the impression that Arcee (pun on
RC) was a newer Transformer.  Actually, what I wondered was what happened to
all of the female Transformers.  We know they are there but we virtually
never them.
