It's foolish really.
It's a threat, a foe to be defeated.
I mean, its just a game. Yeah, a fun one, but a game nonetheless.
The fate of the world literally hangs on the turn of a card. Just as it did
in the old days.
I don't know why people seem to take it so seriously.
They can feel it in their souls. The cards are dangerous.
Grandpa gave me the Millennium Puzzle, I don't know where he got it. From the
way he talked, I was expecting fireworks when I solved it.
For five thousand years I slept inside the puzzle only to be woken by a mere
boy. This was my vessel?
That's when I started getting into dueling, y'know?
We often can not choose our tools, what we are given is all we have.
It was weird, when I first sat down to play, it felt like I done this before.
I was surprised to see this Duel Monsters game that was so much like the Game
of old. The similarities were shockingly similar. Too similar.
But I was curious, I wanted to know more. At least, I think I did.
I began to manipulate the boy, getting him interested in the game.
I didn't start hearing the voice until the duel with Kaiba. At first, I
thought I was losing my mind.
Kaiba forced me to get involved personally, rather then simply nudging the
boy towards the right cards. I
I suddenly heard someone telling me which cards to use and then...I'm not
really sure.
It was then that I realized how closely linked the boy and I had become.
I don't know why, but I trust him, the voice I mean. It's like we're the same
person.
His friends are mine, his family is mine. I share in all things that he
thinks and feels.
Now, when I duel, its like parts of me step aside.
They don't see me take the boy's place. That may be for the best. Though I
must work through him. Through his thoughts and words, not mine.
I must get my Grandfather back.
I must stop the Game before it's too late.
I am Yugi Mouto, I'm just a kid.
I am Tutkenhaman, I am The Game King.
I don't understand.
I do...

I've been getting into Yui-Gi-Oh on the WB, which as near as I can tell,
aside from some removal of guns, and a name change or two, doesn't appear to
have been mangled to badly.
So, when I started digging into the Japanese version via the web, I
discovered something interesting. If I'm understanding correctly. In the dub,
nobody sees the Game King. They see only Yugi. Untransformed plain old Yugi,
who doesn't even realize he's transformed. It was too intriguing to pass up.

Trust me on this.
