        I'm going to drop a few comments here, because I like those
small details in science-fiction stories :).

        Well... Technically, Jupiter is a gas giant, meaning it's
basically a giant ball of gas :). Not much space to stand on... But it
has plenty of moons (some Earth-sized, IIRC) these Ramarians could adapt
to their needs. It's just a detail, but it can be easily changed in the
text and would add some plausibility to the story.

2) Lumiata is a light-year in Earth terms.

        A light-year is the distance a beam of light travels in an Earth
year. You could make a lumiata the distance this beam of light travels
in a iata, since the Ramarians have no reason to be using Earth years :).
Thus a lumiata is bigger than a light year, but I think all it would
really change in the story would be this footnote :).
