Hello all,
A gentleman by the name of Steve Darlington, who frequents the role-playing
game forum where I lurk, has recently published an article on the crimes
perpetrated by bad fan fiction. It's at a website called Fandomlife. Here's a
link for it:

Eeek! Some of us don't use HTML-enabled mail clients, since we like to
keep our sanity.
It's called Crimes of the Heart: Why Fan Fiction Sucks. It covers fan fiction
in general, not any particular subset such as anime, but I've read it and
find it interesting enough to let the list know about it. Despite the title
it is not a condemnation of fan fiction: Steve writes Buffy the Vampire
Slayer fics, so he has some experience and insight.
Of course, I might say that if he writes BtVS fics, he's got
problems... Nevermind.
Here's an article by a woman I know which is on the other side of the
issue. Just to be fair.
