Quite a few of you have been asking for an explanation of the "bounce
test" messages. This is it.

First of all, thanks to those people who wrote to ffml-admins, rather
than the list, asking about the messages. This was exactly the right
thing to do. To those who wondered whether the messages were directed
personally at them, they weren't. Everybody got one. And yes, they were
sent by us.

As for the purpose of the test, many of you know that a web server at
animenation.org has been sending out auto-replies to FFML messages.
Several people have also reported receiving virus emails in response to
their posts. The test messages are an attempt on our part to figure out
which subscribers are responsible for these messages. Once we know that,
we can set them to vacation.

"But aren't test messages tempban-bait?" Well, er, that is... do as we
say, not as we do. ^_^;;;; We apologize for putting this extra mail in
your box, but these replies -- particularly the viruses -- are enough of
a problem for our subscribers that we feel the need to do what we can to
track down the sources.
