I'd still advise against using the term "print clubs" in a fanfic unless
the term is, in fact, actually being used in an English-speaking
environment like the Jersey Shore. The concept of a booth where you get
"Jersey Shore" is meaningless to me as an Australian, except for the
obvious reference to the bit of Jersey (I'm assuming the US Jersey, not
the one in the Channel Islands) that borders the Pacific or Atlantic
ocean. Sorry, I can't be bothered looking up an atlas at the moment.
Having said that, I thing that a certain amount of foreign slang and
verbal shorthand enhances a fic and immerses the characters in their
culture, rather than Westernising them.
A small glossary at the start is helpful, as long as it is not too big,
and will allow other authors and fics to also use these terms. Say, no more
than 6 to 10 terms.
I think this branch of the thread should die here, please reply privately,
unless you have something really earth-shattering the share.
Cheers, glen.
