Yes, in-deedily!

Correct. This is even before Ami joined the SM crew. The SM stuff will
be mostly running in the background, advancing along as the plot requires.

And I'm putting weird spins on the Ranma characters as they're fused and/or
modified.

And they didn't find out Usagi was the Moon Princess until MUCH, much
later.

  Ranma has fallen into a pool where the original Princess Serenity
 didn't quite drown. This doesn't make him (when cursed) the current
 Princess Serenity (presumably that is still Usagi), but it does make him
 a good enough standin for her to confuse Luna and everyone else. After
 all, he (and not Usagi, who has yet to 'wake up') presumably has the
 appropriate energy signature and so on.

Exactly! Ranma isn't Serenity reincarnated. Usagi is, and will be revealed
as such later. But meanwhile... ^_^

While Ranma might on occasion (when he isn't being careful about it)
be subject to a personality bleed-over, as Genma would be, but no
actual knowledge Serenity had would be shared. (I think, but the plot
may change that eventually if I think it's worth it.)

He might just wake up one morning and not be able to use contractions
or talk gruffly for a few hours unless he tries really hard. That's all. ^_^

Ranma(Moon Princess form): Oh dear, I am certainly in a predicament.
(grits 'er teeth) I dislike this ever so much. (stamps her foot in a 
princess-like
manner) Oh, SHHHHHHIIIIIn-bruises. (tries to growl, but ends up with a
polite giggle) What the FU-n is happening to me??

A twist on the "Liar, Liar" syndrome, maybe?

He'd notice it, of course, and it'd bug him. Besides, what would be the
point in torturing Ranma if it's not Ranma we're torturing, hmmm? ^_^

It probably wouldn't be all that noticeable unless some jerk comes along
and decides to supercharge the curse for a while.

Odds 38-1 Takahashi already thought of it, though... Still, it needs to be
done in this context sometime.

  This (especially the setting in Sailor Moon continuity) may or may
 not be worth an explicit mention in the 'fic (either as an author's
 note or as part of the narrative). I imagine it will eventually all
 come out, but it's evidently confusing people in the early parts...

It's not really worth mentioning in an author's note, since the ones who
would actually care about those details would be able to discern it from
the text and the ones who didn't care wouldn't want to read the note
anyway.

And besides, the surprise factor is half the fun. I've been dropping hints
of what's going to happen left and right, but I'm not worried, since
somehow the things I write end up surprising everyone anyway...

I could say that there's going to be a tentacle demon and the Invid are
going to attack the Earth in part three and still have enough aces up
my sleeve to win a few poker tournaments. It may turn out that those
are minor plot elements. It may not. I do, after all, want to focus in on
Setsuna, Haruka, Rei, Ranma and Genma...

Eh well, enough spoilers. All I'll say right now is that it'll be worth the 
wait
and that the prereaders have liked it so far.
