The next day, Ranma strolled up the walk to Taiyoko's house.
He had to take a train to get there, but Nabiki had provided him with
a fairly detailed idea of how to get to the house, along with a basic
idea of what kinds of shops and restaurants were nearby. As a matter
of fact, Nabiki had helped Ranma plan most of the date in advance.

I kept waiting for it to rain or someone to drop water on him, but I guess
that would ruin the intended climax.  Maybe a couple of last second dodges
as water goes by.

hidden as she was capable of because she knew that the pair below
were so distracting that Ranma and his friend would never notice her.

Taiyoko went misty-eyed for a second. "Oh..." she breathed.

"Yeah," Ranma agreed. "She's being a really good friend."

I guess Ranma doesn't recognize Nabiki's interest in Taiyoko.  Or who the
girl Taiyoko was caught with was.

"Please leave..." he heard her whisper under her breath.

I would expect her to say "Please don't leave..."  Even if she doesn't like
what's happening, she's much more afraid what will happen if it doesn't go
further.

"Do you mind?" the dark-haired girl finally said. "Or are you
going to stare at us all night?

Ranma turned and fled.

I think he finally got the hint.
